Designed to get novice pilots up and flying safely and with high precision skills quickly, this flight workbook contains 20 flight mission plans and 40 advanced flight mission challenges to guide learning quickly and painlessly. Drone technology has been around for quite some time, but only recently has the price dropped dramatically as manufacturing has gotten easier, electronics have gotten smaller and less power hungry, onboard sensors can better detect subtle differences in acceleration and position, unbelievably accurate GPS satellite configurations, tiny cameras with amazing resolution, and super-fast onboard computers with tons of memory. Coupled with the ability to use one's preexisting smart phone electronics as the computer running the controller, the price has dropped considerably!!These drone attributes have all come together to make it possible for drones to happen right now!Seems like everyone is ready to take advantage of this newly affordable and easy-to-use technology. And, not just in schools for education, but as a life-long learning endeavor. Hobbyist who love to tinker with flying machines, photographers who want to capture images from amazing angles, farmers who want to monitor their fields, realtors who want to show properties for sale, scientists who want to safely monitor volcanoes, emergency response teams who want to prepare for what they are encountering, sports enthusiasts who want to pit their precision flying skills against one another, and, perhaps most important, leaders who want to position their pilots for the best possible career pathways. This workbook is one of the great supplements to Slater & Richard's other well-known classroom-based curriculum materials, including "Teaching STEM from the Sky with Drones" and "Learning to Fly Drones - the FPV Curriculum"

Award-winning artist and educator Tim Needles brings a fresh approach to STEAM topics, focusing on creativity, innovation and collaboration. There are numerous books on STEAM, but most are either arts and crafts project books designed for children or high-level books that can be weighty and inaccessible for new teachers. This accessible and engaging book offers creative ideas for blending arts and STEM learning (STEAM). It covers the fundamentals of STEAM, with project ideas and best practices, while providing insight from educators in the field. Technologies covered include: coding, robotics, 3D printing, virtual and augmented reality, photography, video, animation and digital drawing. In addition, the book addresses several different approaches to bringing STEAM learning to the next level, such as collaboration, global learning, project-based learning, makerspaces and social-emotional learning. The book: • Features a breadth of technology and project possibilities, with project ideas organized by technology type. • Explores long-standing concepts that are relevant regardless of specific advances in technology, providing the pedagogy behind the projects rather than technology for technology’s sake. • Offers a highly visual approach, incorporating photographs and hand-drawn sketchnotes. • Illustrates concepts through author examples as well as a series of interviews featuring STEAM professionals and expert teachers. • Presents topics in a clear, concise manner that's useful for repeated reading and as a practical resource. With its friendly style and visual design, the book is a practical guide for new and emerging educators, and for educators looking for fun and creative ways to invigorate their STEAM curriculum.

A self-training manual as well as a classroom text, this book is a complete step-by-step course to develop the musician's ability to hear and notate any style of music. Personal training, thoery and exercises produce techniques which are combined in an integrated craft which may be applied to composition, orchestration, arranging, improvisation and performance. A kind of finishing school for those who wish to pursue a career in composing, orchestrating, arranging or performing. -- The Score, Society of Composers and Lyricists A myriad of practical information. Comprehensive ear training, important because aural skills are among the most overlooked in music education. -- Survey of New Teaching Materials, Jazz Educators journal A synthesis of the author's vast knowledge and his quest to define the question, "How do we hear?" -- ITG Journal A wonderfully systematic approach to ear training . . . neatly designed and structured, it just flows. Direct and easily understood. -- New books, Jazz Educators Journal Bernard Brandt says: "Hearing and Writing Music", by Ron Gorow, is a superb book. It makes a simple and elegant presentation of the internal process by which we hear sounds and music, how we recognize intervals, chords, melody, harmony, counterpoint, and the timbre of instrumentation/ orchestration, how we can develop the skills of listening, auditory memory and imagination, and how to use these skills to hear and to write down music of any sort. The hallmark of an expert is the ability to explain the basics of his field as simply as possible. By that standard, Mr. Gorow has proven his expertise in this book. I note that the other reviews, both for Amazon and in musical journals, tend to limit the importance of "Hearing and Writing Music" to ear training. I believe that Mr. Gorow's book is valuable for much more than ear training. I have studied it, and as a result of that study, I believe that my auditory memory and imagination and my abilities in score reading have improved enormously. Further, I have been able to use the skills in this book to transcribe melodies, harmonies and counterpoint almost effortlessly, both those that I have heard, and those which existed only in my imagination. This book has opened many doors for me. I believe that it can do so for many others.
