Sometimes escape is impossible. Sometimes love isn't enough. 1913. Christmas Eve. Ardis hardly expects a quiet holiday with Wendel, between fleeing Constantinople and hiding from an ancient society of assassins. And they owe a debt to a certain archmage. In Konigsberg, Prussia, they work with Konstantin on the next evolution of Project Lazarus. Wendel once called Konigsberg home, the city now besieged by the Russians and their clockwork engines of war. This may be Wendel's last chance to save his family and find redemption, but he's tormented by nightmares and tempted by laudanum. Ardis fears her love isn't enough to save Wendel. Her hands are full piloting the automatons, and she's terrified to tell him a secret of her own. Will they-and their love-survive the storms of war?"

Winner of the National Jewish Book Award Emma Lazarus’s most famous poem gave a voice to the Statue of Liberty, but her remarkable story has remained a mystery until now. Drawing upon a cache of personal letters undiscovered until the 1980s, Esther Schor brings this vital woman to life in all her complexity—as a feminist, a Zionist, and a trailblazing Jewish-American writer. Schor argues persuasively for Lazarus’s place in history as an activist and a prophet of the world we all inhabit today. As a stunning rebuke to fear, xenophobia, and isolationism, Lazarus's life and work are more relevant now than ever before.

A modern tale rooted in recent historical events but filtered through a patiently unfolding storytelling style that pays homage to The Arabian Nights, The Lazarus Rumba is a stunning literary debut, a virtuoso performance like no other Latino writer has ever produced. This extraordinary ambitious novel sets out to portray the spiritual landscape of the Cuban people in the wake of Castro's revolutionary upheaval. Like Cervantes' Don Quixote, The Lazarus Rumba describes a country best by social dislocation and personal confusion, a country whose soul is best captured by a lush magic realism woven from innumerable tales, tales told contrapuntally in voices both melancholy and lively, lyrical and coarse, delicate and grotesque. As intensely political as Manuel Puig's Kiss Of The Spider Woman or Milan Kundera's The Book Of Laughter And Forgetting, The Lazarus Rumba centers around three generations of women in the Lucientes family and follows the story of Alicia Lucientes as she almost inadvertantly becomes the most famous dissident on the Island.

This book demonstrates the awareness of storms and how real storms are based on individual experiences, and Biblical application. Storms of life cannot be prevented except through Gods grace and intervention. This book makes us realize that there are different types of storms- unexpected storm, instant storm or financial storm to mention a few. Whatever type of storm it may be, it gives no notice before it manifest. Storm is no respecter of any one; it does not care about whom you are or your personality. It does not recognize whether you are prayerful or not, but it will strike. The storm brought us sadness and hurt and some famine; but yet we still rise by His Grace. The book exposes us to the facts that there will be storms in life. Storms are unpredictable; and we should not allow our faith to be moved during the storm; because there are times we feel like we have lost the battle. However, just as surely as the Lord is in control of our blessings, He is in charge of our storms. When things look the bleakest, God will show up! There is always an entry and exit to every storm. The test always brings testimony if we put Jesus in the middle of the Storm. It is safer in the storm with Jesus. The book indicates various ways we can deal with storms of life without allowing it to affect our health. During the storm we need to focus on God and take advice from the right people. We should have faith and act to stop the storm. Self-pity cannot help, but a courageous mind that will not accept defeat. The storm is temporary, and you will overcome it by Gods Grace through praying and trusting in the Lord.
