Excerpt from Standard School Physiology Hygiene Anatomy The authors of this book, believing, as they do, that the study of no subject in the school curriculum can yield greater practical benefit to the student than the study of physiology, send it forth in the hope that it may add a little to the sum of human knowledge upon this important subject. It is almost incredible that the study of physiology, by pupils in public schools, should have been so long delayed, and that its great importance should have received so slow and inadequate a recognition. This volume is believed to be adapted to the capacities and needs of students of academies, high schools, and the higher grammar grades. In school systems where the subject has been studied by the pupils from the time of their entering school, as is required by law in some of the States, this book will be found adapted to use in grades as low as the VIIth (seventh year in school), or possibly the VIth.
