This unique book provides important guidelines and examples of ways STEM (e. g., science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) faculty and administration can collaborate towards goals of recruiting, mentoring, and promoting leadership to academic women faculty. Based on the experiences of faculty across five Florida universities, including one national laboratory, each chapter highlights one aspect of a multi-institutional collaboration on an NSF ADVANCE-PAID grant dedicated to achieving these three goals. Highlighting the importance of coordination, integration, and flexibility, each chapter details strategies and challenges of establishing a multi-site collaboration, assessing climate in STEM departments, addressing differential institutional readiness and infrastructure, and implementing change. The authors suggest ways to build on intrainstitutional strengths through interinstitutional activities, including shared workshops, research, and materials. Separate chapters focus on recruiting women into STEM departments, mentoring women faculty, and providing leadership opportunities to women. A theoretical chapter includes Cultural historical activity theory as a lens for examining the alliances’ activities and evaluation data. Other chapters present research on women STEM faculty, contributing insights about STEM women’s sense of isolation. Chapters include a reflective metalogue written by a social scientist. The book closes with lessons learned from this collaboration.

You've survived cancer treatment - now what? The Cancer Misfit is here to support you when doctors, friends and family have gone 'back to normal' and assumed you can do the same. It's a life raft to help you navigate life after cancer treatment; to help you live better, think better and feel better and show you how to embrace your new future. After the treatment stops it can be difficult to know how to move on, and many survivors feel stuck in limbo between who they used to be before the diagnosis and who they are today. This is how Saskia felt when she was told the treatment was over: she felt like a Cancer Misfit, recovered physically, but mentally and emotionally still healing. Now, Saskia shares the tools that enabled her to become the happiest version of herself she has ever known. In these pages, you'll find the truth - that your best life and most beautiful self was not the person you were before your cancer diagnosis, but the person you are today; that you've become even more powerful because of the hell you went through, and that the greatest chapter of your life is here and now. The Cancer Misfit will introduce you to the person you've become as a consequence of the trauma you endured and help you to embrace your new life after treatment; a life full of confidence, happiness and peace.

Unleash Your Giant & Step into Your Greatness is a leadership book for entrepreneur women designed to help you shake loose your shrinking thinking and uncover the magnificent being you were made to be. As entrepreneur women, we are each presented with a continuous stream of moments in life, in which we exercise choices. The choices we make can either lead to self-defeating behaviors or to behaviors that affirm and honor our lives. Over time, depending on the mix of our choices, we are either headed for breakdowns or breakthroughs. Our power is in how we choose to lead ourselves within the breakdown or the breakthrough and in order to lead in business, we must be clear on the leadership we provide to ourselves. Not believing in your greatness, especially when faced with challenges stunts your growth. You can be a leader in place as long as you're committed to continual growth in your mindset, your language and an understanding of self. But what happens when you stop growing or you stop believing in your greatness, especially when faced with challenges? As women, we tend to play small and that stops us from growing in the way we need to in order to honor leadership roles. Almost every entrepreneur worries about the fear of failure, not feeling good enough and can even suffer from imposter syndrome at some point in their business journey. In this book and workbook, you will discover tools to help you tap into your growth mindset so those big, beautiful dreams you have can come into fruition. You are amazing, but when it comes to receiving your blessings, you find yourself stretched thin by trying to stay in your comfort zone. So it’s time to get out of your comfort zone to rid yourself of limitations that hold you back from harnessing your power. So join us on this journey to equip you with the tools and techniques that will lead to exposing and resolving any self-limiting beliefs, fears or actions that keep you from reaching personal greatness.
