The first volume of poetry by Zakari Musa was published in 2004. The Silent Stream (Volume II) represents his more recent thoughts. His second volume includes his philosophy on man, nature, society and destiny/fate. If you read carefully, you too will envision the beautiful hills and valleys of his homeland. This stunning collection of poems is delivered with a masterful touch by the Nigerian poet. Zakari Musa is of the Igala tribe of Nigeria. He grew up in a village as a farmer, a fisherman, and a hunter, in a place where there were cultural entertainments, peaceful cohabitation with fellow human beings, justice and fair play, and the gifts of nature through farm work, fishing, and the harnessing of palm fruits and oil. He recalls the beautiful and serene terrain of the hills and valleys, as well as the beautiful music and the art of the language, the Igala language. "I was brought up by my aged parents whose stock in trade was honesty, with diligence and dexterity." He is currently a chief confidential secretary/public administrator of the Registry Department of the Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Kogi State, Nigeria. This poetry collection by Nigerian poet Zakari Musa represents an X-ray of man and his natural environment. Shown from his imaginative realm with the power of words, it interplays with faith to blend the twisting fist of fate, only to post his flag where he may be found until his last whistle is blown. These words are drawn from within the cycle of life, from cradle to the grave, when the theatrical curtain of life shall be drawn forever. He was motivated to write this book by his college teachers who were hardworking and skilled in the arts, the pioneer poets whose works constituted the fabric of his inspiration, and by God, "whose ceaseless inspiration has continued to flow with resounding and irresistible pressure."
