A Deranged Killer's Twisted Urges In the streets of New York City, the Slasher chooses his victim--and makes his move. As he wraps his fingers around the girl's pretty throat, his power increases. As he carves into her skin, his words become flesh. As he arranges her lifeless body in a loving tableau, his fantasies demand new, more violent sacrifices. . . A Profiler's Cunning Plan At first, NYPD detectives suspect a jealous boyfriend. But criminal profiler Lee Campbell senses something darker, even ritualistic, about the murder. More chilling, he's convinced he's witnessing the genesis of a full-blown serial killer. But time is running out. A new victim has been chosen. Campbell must search the most terrifying recesses of the human mind--and his own past--before the screaming starts again. . . "Pulse-racing, compelling, first rate. Lawrence knows how to build and hold suspense with the best of them. Once you get into this one, you can't get out. A wild ride down a dark road." --John Lutz, New York Times bestselling author of Urge to Kill "C. E. Lawrence has achieved a rare level of authenticity, not only in character development but also in the realistic use of behavioral science. If you want to read a serial-killer thriller that's solidly based on frightening reality, this is the one." --Louis B Schlesinger, Ph.D., professor of forensic psychology, John Jay College of Criminal Justice "C. E. Lawrence delivers finely honed suspense, with unique twists, and accurately captures the logic and intuition of a profiler under pressure." --Katherine Ramsland, professor of forensic psychology, De Sales University, and author of The Devil's Dozen "Criminally compelling, Silent Screams by C.E. Lawrence nails you to your seat with a fascinating NYPD profiler who's hurled into the case of his lifetime. From the Bronx to Manhattan, Catholic churches to university classrooms, this journey into violence and the soul is unforgettable." --- Gayle Lynds, New York Times bestselling author of The Book of Spies and The Last Spymaster "Silent Screams is a wickedly brilliant, carefully wrought thriller where the roles of hunter and hunted are skillfully blurred. Team up with a virtuoso profiler and a street-wise Bronx detective as they are thrown into an escalating torrent of murder that threatens to sweep them away. It's ride that neither they, or you, will soon forget." --Gregg McCrary, author of The Unknown Darkness: Profiling the Predators Among Us "By setting the horror of fictional killings against the background of 9/11, C.E. Lawrence constantly reminds the reader that life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. The deviant perpetrator of grisly murders is described as someone who has a sophisticated knowledge of forensic investigations. The same can be said of the author. Silent Screams beckons C.E. Lawrence to become a repeat offender in this genre." --Marina Stajic, Ph.D., President of American Board of Forensic Toxicology

Saving the world takes the bravery of gods. The world loves heroes but misses acknowledging these officers who don't wear capes. Protecting and preserving the values of society is a burden, of which the enforcers are not rewarded enough. However, with lucid and compelling real-life stories, 'The Silent Screams' takes you through a journey of the reality of military, para-military, law enforcement service personnel and how they cope. Sometimes, veterans have to live and relive their old lives in their new realities away from the field. For many, they remain haunted by the trauma of the hazards they escape daily. Those deserving of reintegration are the ones who struggle to find therapy outside of their work, the ones who try so hard to flow seamlessly between work life and their home. This book aims at helping to understand the effect of PTSD on loved ones who face the terrors of the field daily, and lends insight into some practical ways to manage it.

Comments The following are unsolicited comments. Only a first name was used and may be a pseudonym for the victim who wrote the comment after reading my poems. This is typical behavior when dealing with survivors. I want you to carry the warm glow of knowing you done real good there with you all day. Now, get that book out there for all those other people who need it, already. Alexandra! May I say again, Vinnie, thank you--for your talents and support. I ́ve read several of the poems and I must say that I admire anyone who can put into print and art feelings regarding sexual abuse. Garnett I am grateful that you are able to put into words what I have been having difficulty expressing to the point of tears. I hope that, in sharing your words, it will release others ́ suffering. Thanks, Sue I was surfing and ran across your poetry and artwork. It is so undescribable. I want to say awesome and deep and well written, but that sounds so trivial because of the pain it shelters. I can really relate to the first poem, "Paradox of the Abused." Sheila Description The poems in "Silent Screams" have helped survivors on their road to healing. Some of these poems were written to help the author get over his own anger, frustration and pain. Others were written specifically to help survivors he has met on Internet Survivor Sites get over theirs. It was the moving survivor ́s responses to these poems that led to the publication of this book. There are two reasons for the existence of Silent Screams: 1. To help survivors and their families on their long arduous road to recovery. 2. To create a permanent record of the pain and suffering of those who have had the misfortune of being sexually abused. "Silent Screams", Poetry Born of Clergy Abuse is destined to become a permanent witness to the devastating effects of clergy abuse. It takes to task the evil of the priests who purported to dedicate their lives to God and the hypocrisy of the church that protected them. The poetry alternates between riveting satire and a uniquely honest portrayal of the pain and anguish suffered by survivors of clerical sexual abuse. These poems offer no excuses; they make no apologies and take no prisoners when dealing with the Catholic Church and the Clergy Sexual Abuse Scandal. Silent Screams rips open the curtain of silence surrounding survivors thereby exposing their deep wounds and terrible suffering. The poetry exudes gut wrenching emotion as it deals with the anger generated by pain, the devastating impact of the survivor ́s suffering and its effects on victims and their families. There is compassion and tenderness for the victims and an ample dose of contempt for those who would cover-up the crimes committed by priests. Through his poetry, Nauheimer offers a unique insight into the emotional upheaval caused by clerical sexual abuse. He has put that pain into words for all to witness. One poem will shine a spotlight on a tortured soul while another will let you experience the heartbreaking lament of a parent over their child ́s suffering and the next will upbraid the church in focused satirical rhyme rarely seen. Powerful emotions are stirred whether the author is firing a canon loaded with satire against the church or allowing the reader to glimpse the incredible anguish experienced by the tortured soul called a survivor. Either way, this poetry will move you. This is must read for survivors of clergy abuse, their families, and friends. It should be mandatory for all clergy and it is certainly a worthwhile read for anyone with more than a passing interest in the effects of clerical sexual abuse.
