As colour imaging takes on increasing importance in a range of products and technologies, colour fidelity across different media has become essential. This book has arisen from the need for a specialist text that brings together key developments in colour management technology and findings from the colour engineering research community. Edited by highly regarded specialists in colour management systems, Colour Engineering introduces the reader systematically to the art of constistent quality of image reproduction - regardless of the monitor or graphic user interface employed. Features: a thorough review of the elements of colour science that apply to colour imaging. a comprehensive analysis of methods for characterizing devices in the colour imaging chain. a review of the key topics in colour management. the different approaches to implementing colour systems at some of the leading exponents in the imaging industry. This authoritative book depicting the latest developments in colour imaging, written by a group of authors at the forefront of research in this exciting and fast-moving field will appeal to students as well as practitioners of the new discipline of colour engineering. The Society for Information Display (SID) is an international society, which has the aim of encouraging the development of all aspects of the field of information display. Complementary to the aims of the society, the Wiley-SID series is intended to explain the latest developments in information display technology at a professional level. The broad scope of the series addresses all facets of information displays from technical aspects through systems and prototypes to standards and ergonomics

The 4th International Conference on Security in Communication Networks 2004 (SCN2004)washeldatthe“DioceseHall”oftheArchdioceseofAmal?-Cavade’ Tirreni and the “Armorial Bearings Hall” of the Archbishop Palace in Amal?, Italy, on September 8–10, 2004. Previous conferences also took place in Amal? in 1996, 1999 and 2002. The conference aimed at bringing together researchers in the ?elds of cr- tography and security in communication networks to foster cooperation and the exchange of ideas. The main topics included all technical aspects of data security, including: anonymity,authentication,blockciphers,complexity-basedcryptography,cry- analysis, digital signatures, distributed cryptography, hash functions, identi?- tion, implementations, keydistribution, privacy, publickeyencryption, threshold cryptography, and zero knowledge. The Program Committee, consisting of 21 members, considered 79 papers and selected 26 for presentation; one of them was withdrawn by the authors. These papers were selected on the basis of originality, quality and relevance to cryptography and security in communication networks. Due to the high number of submissions, paper selection was a di?cult and challenging task, and many good submissions had to be rejected. Each subm- sion was refereed by at least three reviewers and some had four reports or more. We are very grateful to all the program committee members, who devoted much e?ort and valuable time to read and select the papers. In addition, we gratefully acknowledge the help of colleagues who reviewed submissions in their areas of expertise. They are all listed on page VII and we apologize for any inadvertent omissions. These proceedings include the revised versions of the 26 accepted papers andtheabstractoftheinvitedtalkbyBartPreneel(ECRYPT:theCryptographic Research Challenges for the Next Decade).

Ad hoc networks refer to the wireless networking paradigm that covers a variety of network forms for specific purposes, such as mobile ad hoc networks, sensor n- works, vehicular networks, underwater networks, underground networks, personal area networks, and home networks. The various forms of ad hoc networks promise a broad scope of applications in civilian, commercial, and military areas, which have led to significant new research problems and challenges, and have attracted great efforts from academia, industry, and government. This unique networking paradigm neces- tates re-examination of many established wireless networking concepts and protocols, and calls for developing new fundamental understanding of problems such as interf- ence, mobility, connectivity, capacity, and security, among others. While it is ess- tial to advance theoretical research on fundamentals and practical research on efficient algorithms and protocols, it is also critical to develop useful applications, experim- tal prototypes, and real-world deployments to achieve a practical impact on our so- ety for the success of this networking paradigm. The annual International Conference on Ad Hoc Networks (AdHocNets) is a new event that aims at providing a forum to bring together researchers from academia as well as practitioners from industry and government to meet and exchange ideas and recent research work on all aspects of ad hoc networks. As the first edition of this event, AdHocNets 2009 was successfully held in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, during September 22–25, 2009.
