Editor Amory Scann, hides from his job and family in a hotel room in order to write a novella about the northern wilderness, half-tamed by mad trapper Linden, after whom Scann’s hometown is named. But it is interrupted by episodes of the story he tells the chambermaid he hopes to seduce; by another concerning the building of the hotel where he’s hiding; by a dream about his own brush with WWll; and by an I-spy story that happens in the room next to his. Judged Harlow’s masterpiece, serio-comedic Scann is a celebration of our most appealing and hard-won humanity.

"Tragic Instance follows Shakespeare's progress through his tragedies. The book accepts Kenneth Muir's prescription, "There is no such thing as Shakespearian Tragedy: there are only Shakespearian tragedies." Accordingly, each of the tragedies, from Titus Andronicus to Coriolanus, is studied in order of composition. Richard III and Richard II are included because each is described as "tragedy" on the title page. No larger unity is seen. The play is everything that is the case."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. All Rights Reserved

Theimportanceofsafetyandsecurityisgrowingsteadily.Safetyisaqualityc- racteristic that traditionally has been considered to be important in embedded systems, and security is usually an essential property in business applications. There is certainly a tendency to use software-based solutions in safety-critical applications domains, which increases the importance of safety engineering te- niques. These include modelling and analysis techniques as well as appropriate processes and tools. And it is surely correct that the amount of con?dential data that require protection from unauthorized access is growing. Therefore, security is very important. On the one hand, the traditional motivations for addressing safety and security still exist, and their relevance has improved. On the other hand, safety and security requirements occur increasingly in the same system. At present, many software-based systems interact with technical equipment and they communicate, e.g., with users and other systems. Future systems will more and more interact with many other entities (technical systems, people, the en- ronment). In this situation, security problems may cause safety-related failures. It is thus necessary to address safety and security. It is furthermore required to take into account the interactions between these two properties.

This book summarizes the latest research and developments related to the application of nature-inspired metaheuristic algorithms coupled with artificial neural networks (ANNs) in hydrology. The book covers the theoretical foundations, models and methods, structure, frameworks and analysis of applying novel ANNs in hydrology. It starts with the introduction of ANNs as a black box model, followed by the coupling of various metaheuristic algorithms with ANNs to form novel neural network models for solving real-world problems in hydrology, including Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) for rainfall-runoff modeling, Bat Optimization (Bat) and Cuckoo Search Optimization (CSO) for future rainfall prediction, the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) and Salp Swarm Optimization (SSO) for future water level prediction, Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO), Multi-Verse Optimization (MVO), the Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA) and the Hybrid Sine Cosine and Fitness Dependent Optimizer (SC-FDO) for imputing missing rainfall data.

Recently, attention has been called to the role that microvascular organization plays in the functional morphology of all organs and tissues, both in normal and pathological conditions. Since its development by Murakami, the corrosion cast method for scanning electron microscopy has come to be considered one of the most efficient means in clarifying the three-dimensional features of the microcirculation of organs and tissues. Scanning Electron Microscopy of Vascular Casts: Methods and Applications was planned to supply fundamental and new information regarding microcirculation studies to general biologists, anatomists, pathologists and clinicians. The contributions to this volume, contain original findings and excellent electron micrographs obtained by using recently improved corrosion cast methods. The rich variety of papers in this book will be useful to many, and will provide both the basic and clinically oriented readers with good ideas, suggestions, and original and worthwhile information.
