Explains her long silence is the result of the indisposition of her children. Describes an accident where Thomas [Flucker?] (possibly her son or husband) fell into boiling water. Mentions the doctor says he is out of danger but she is still anxious. Speaks of finances and asks Lucy's opinion on a particular gentleman. Sends her best regards to Henry Knox and the rest of the family.

Reports that Henry Jackson Knox has returned in perfect health. He was satisfied with his trip to Boston. As Lucy is anxious about his hearing, she reports that I think it is far better than I have known it. Says his hair is long and thick, but she has prevailed upon him to have it cut. Reports that his bed is finished, but that she could not procure any bedding and she wrote to Henry Jackson for help. Says her boys have not yet returned to school since the holidays because of sore throats. Was particularly concerned because of the recent bad weather. Took tea with General Benjamin Lincoln last evening. Claims she is not good at keeping up the politeness necessary to meet new people. Says she is far less happy without Lucy around, but that she is far from unhappy. Talks of her acquaintances. Heard that Bingham and Jackson speak of coming to Hingham. Says their deals for Eastern Lands has caused much anxiety. Goes on to speak of politics in florid language.

Expresses her pleasure over their upcoming meeting. Mentions Thomas [Flucker?] has been in a great deal of pain from his accident (from falling into boiling water). Comments the wound proved far worst than everyone first thought. Notes he can now sit-up. Discusses land deals and how anxious she is to hear Knox's advice and information on which path she should take regarding her children's property. Mentions her sons being in the military academy and how they might go to England. Sends her best wishes to Knox's family. Sarah Lyons Flucker was Knox's sister-in-law.

Thanks Knox for previous correspondence, and for being the caretaker of her children while they are in America. Discusses land in American inherited from her parents, Hannah and Thomas Flucker. Remarks that a great part of money from the inheritance will go toward Mrs. Harwood, Mrs. Knox and the rest of our Fathers Creditors in England. Hopes Knox will put her inheritance money toward the proper education of her children. Would prefer educating them in the Church, Law, or Physick as opposed to sending them to join the army, though she has army and navy friends who could assist their advancement. Comments that Harriett, possibly her daughter, looks forward to the prospect of going to America to marry Henry's son, also named Henry. Harriet sends one of her flowing locks to Henry, Jr.

Writes that she is doing much better, since she was suffering from an illness. Her son was ill as well. Mentions that Henry, presumably Henry Jackson Knox, spent some time with her and is now out with his cousins, though he will be back in time for tea. Gives her love to Lucy and all her family.

Flucker, sister-in-law to Lucy Knox, writes about her children's health and well-being. Discusses the importance of good education and mentions that she plans to take her two sons, along with Mrs. Knox and her son, Henry, to look at a school. Hopes Knox will recommend her children for admittance. Speaks of her thankfulness that the Knoxes have been so kind and accepting of her and her family. Comments on their vacation visiting Henry Jackson in Dorchester, and mentions all the friends they have been able to see.

Lucy Knox's sister, Mrs. Beaumez, writes Knox of her concerns for her sons. She is happy for Thomas Flucker's good behavior, but worried about Francis. She is considering sending them to England and expresses her wish that peace come to France and America. Talks of her husband's business affairs in India and doesn't think they should leave until he has more money.
