Adam Sherrill, son of William Sherrill, was born in about 1700 in Cecil County, Maryland. He married Elizabeth in about 1722 and they had eight sons and possibly two daughters. Their son, Samuel, was born October 1, 1725 in Cecil County. In 1742 the family moved to Virginia. Samuel married Mary in 1746. They had nine children. In 1747 Adam and his children and married children's families moved to Rowan County, North Carolina and were the first settlers in the area. Samuel died in Washington County, Georgia in 1800. Descendants and relatives lived in Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas and elsewhere.

Captain William Sherrill (1723-1785) moved from Maryland to Augusta County, Virginia and married Agnes White in 1743, later moving to Anson (later Rowan) County, North Carolina. Descendants lived in North Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Florida, Arizona and elsewhere.

Jacob Sherrill was born in Virginia about 1736. He married Hulda Wilson and they moved to Tennessee. They were the parents of 13 children. Information on their descendants is included in this volume. Descendants now live in Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, and elsewhere in the United States.

Samuel Sherrill (1633-1719) immigrated from England to East Hampton, Long Island, New York, and married a Miss Parsons (daughter of Samuel Parsons). Descendant and relatives lived in New York, New England, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas and elsewhere. Includes some family history and some genealogical records regarding Sherrill individuals and families in England.
