Amy Clarke’s dreams are coming true—and that’s the problem. Legal secretary by day, romance novelist by night, Amy Clarke lives with a precious secret. For years, she has traveled to a holy place in her dreams—a sublime place she calls the Living Room. When she awakes, her faith and energy are supernaturally restored. And when she dreams, she receives vibrant inspiration for her novels. As she begins to write her third book, the nature of her dreams shifts. Gone are the literary signposts. Instead, her dreams are studded with scenes that foreshadow real life. Before long, the scenes begin to spill over into her waking hours too. As Amy becomes entangled in a high stakes case at work, her visions take on a dark hue—implicating someone dear to her, causing her to question everything. And convincing her to trust someone with his own shadowy secrets. Things are not always what they seem. But as fiction, dreams, and real life begin to overlap, Amy must stop dreaming and act to prevent tragedy. “With deft sleight of hand, wonderful characterization, and carefully layered plots, Robert Whitlow has crafted a gripping story about the mysteries of God’s power to shelter the people he loves.”—Erin Healy, author of Afloat

Discover the Strategies That Helped the Most Extreme Picky Eaters and That Can Help Your Picky Eater, Too “Is this normal picky eating stuff, or is there more going on here?” It’s a question many parents worry about, and the same question one mom asked Jennifer Friedman in a session about her son Ryder, who struggled to eat more than chicken nuggets and french fries. In Stories of Extreme Picky Eating, Jennifer invites you into her nutritional therapy office to meet real kids struggling with serious food aversions, and learn the strategies that helped them come to eat a wider variety of nutritious foods with more ease. You’ll meet Jackson, an eight-year-old whose diet used to consist entirely of packaged fruit and veggie puree pouches, milk and crackers. You’ll meet Ruby, a bright and bubbly seven-year-old, who ate little more than sugar-laden baked goods and packaged snacks, and who struggled with an extremely sensitive gag reflex. And you’ll meet five more children whose stories are as fascinating to read as they are enlightening to reveal the root causes of picky eating. Backed by cutting-edge research—and including kid-friendly activities and intervention plans—this book will help you understand the complex issues that drive children’s picky eating habits, and implement key strategies that can set them on the path to enjoying a more diverse, nutritious diet.

Ten-year-old Ryan Wolf has a secret: he is the protector of the Eigenoids, a group of creatures tinier than dust particles who live in a box given to Ryan by his grandfather. The Eigenoids use their magic to shrink Ryan down to their size in order to help him learn about the world around him. During a baseball game, Ryan gets a splinter in his finger. After hearing about how his grandfather lost part of a finger due to an infection from a splinter, Ryan worries that the same thing will happen to him. In order to help, the Eigenoids transform him into a white blood cell so that they can confront the infamous Stephano, the staphylococcus aureus bacterium. Together they travel back in time to when Ryan had the splinter and go inside his body. There they learn about white lymph cells, phagocytes (who make up the White Ops), and bacteria, and they meet Charlie T, the White Duke of Cytes, and Big B-Cell. As Ryan realizes that his adventures with the Eigenoids have real consequences, he must learn to believe in himself and find the first cryton for the spell to save the Eigenoids. In this science fiction novel for middle readers, a boy journeys with a group of tiny magical beings within his body to learn and to save himself and his friends.
