RoboCup is an international initiative devoted to advancing the state of the art in artificial intelligence and robotics. The ultimate, long range goal is to build a team of robot soccer players that can beat a human World Cup champion team.This is the first book devoted to RoboCup. It opens with an overview section presenting the history of this young initiative, motivation, the overall perspectives and challenges, and a survey of the state of the art in the area. The technical paper section presents the state of the art of the interdisciplinary research and development efforts in details, essentially building on the progress achieved during the RoboCup-97 Workshop. The team description contributions discuss technical and strategic aspects of the work of the participating teams.

This book is the third official archival publication devoted to RoboCup and documents the achievements presented at the Third Robot World Cup Soccer Games and Conferences, Robo-Cup-99, held in Stockholm, Sweden in July/August 1999. The book presents the following parts - Introductory overview and survey - Research papers of the champion teams and scientific award winners - Technical papers presented at the RoboCup-99 Workshop - Team description of a large number of participating teams. This book is mandatory reading for the rapidly growing RoboCup community as well as a valuable source or reference and inspiration for R&D professionals interested in multi-agent systems, distributed artificial intelligence, and intelligent robotics.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 25th RoboCup International Symposium which was held online during July 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand. The 28 full papers included in these proceedings were carefully reviewed and selected from 40 submissions; the volume includes 12 papers from the winners of the RoboCup 2022 competitions under the Champions Track. The RoboCup International Symposium focuses on the science behind the advances in robotics, including the key innovations that led the winning teams to their success, and the outcomes of research inspired by challenges across the different leagues at RoboCup.

The 12th annual RoboCup International Symposium was held during July 15–18, 2008 in conjunction with RoboCup 2008 Competitions and Demonstrations. The symposium represents the core meeting for the presentation and discussion of sci- tific contributions in diverse areas related to the main threads within RoboCupSoccer, RoboCupRescue, RoboCup@Home and RoboCupJunior. Its scope encompassed, but was not restricted to, research and education activities within the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics. A fundamental aspect of RoboCup is promoting science and technology among young students and researchers, in addition to providing a forum for discussion and excitement about Robotics with practitioners from all over the world. Since its first edition in 1997 in Nagoya, the RoboCup Competitions and Symposium have attracted an increasing number of researchers and students from all the world and today it is a major event in robotics worldwide. Due to its interdisciplinary nature and the exploration of various and intimate c- nections of theory and practice across a wide spectrum of different fields, the sym- sium offered an excellent opportunity to introduce new techniques to various scientific disciplines. The experimental, interactive and benchmark character of the RoboCup initiative created the opportunity to present, learn and evaluate novel ideas and - proaches with significant potential. If promising, they are then rapidly adopted and field-tested by a large (and still strongly growing) community.

This book is mandatory reading for the rapidly growing RoboCup community as well as a valuable source of reference and inspiration for R & D professionals interested in multi-agent systems, distributed artificial intelligence, and intelligent robotics.

This book includes the post-conference proceedings of the 21st RoboCup International Symposium, held in Nagoya, Japan, in September 2017. The 33 full revised papers and 9 papers from the winning teams presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 58 submissions. The papers are orginazed on topical sections on Robotics, Artificial intelligence, Environment perception, State estimation and much more.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 24th RoboCup International Symposium which was held online during June 22 - June 28, 2021. The 19 full papers included in these proceedings were carefully reviewed and selected from 42 submissions; the volume also includes 10 RoboCup Champions Papers. In addition to presenting the proceedings of the RoboCup 2021 Symposium, the book highlights the approaches of champion teams from the competitions. Due to the complex research challenges set by the RoboCup initiative, the RoboCup International Symposium offers a unique perspective for exploring scientific and engineering principles underlying advanced robotic and AI systems.
