In the spring of 1944, Adolf Hitler firmly believed that the llies would invade the Continent via the beaches of Normandy. Anti-Nazi officers in German Intelligence ultimately persuaded him that Normandy would be a mere diversion, assuring him that the real invasion would occur at Calais. Their campaign of deception convinced Hitler to keep half of the German forces in northern France in Calais to defend against an attack that would never happen. This misinformed decision ultimately cost Hitler the war.

The true story behind the Nazi saboteurs captured on Long Island in 1942, their betrayal by J. Edgar Hoover, and the shameful secret behind the case the established the reputation of the FBI. At 4 AM on a foggy morning in 1942, Nazi submarines discharged eight men along the coasts of Long Island and Florida. A few days later, J. Edgar Hoover further burnished his reputation by announcing the swift capture of Nazi soldiers found prowling our shores, intent on sabotage. Omitted from the record (and still denied by the FBI) is the true story behind Hoover's greatest publicity coup: the saboteurs' leader, George Dasch, betrayed his own country by turning himself in first to a disbelieving FBI. Hoover promised Dasch clemency and assurances that the jerry-rigged "military tribunal" created to try the men as "unlawful combatants" was merely a formality to protect loved ones from Nazi retribution. Using documentation from the FBI archives, interviews and memoirs, David Alan Johnson carefully recounts the mounting betrayals in this utterly engrossing saga.

It is very important that we sharpen the Sword, which is the Word of God and attack the deceptions from the devil within Christendom. Here, we will explore the deceptions of the devil and how to bring those who are deceived into the Light of Life. You will be amazed how much those who claim themselves to be Christians will be against you when you preach what Jesus taught.

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” John 10:10a NKJV satan is the god of this world (see 2 Corinthians 4:4 and 1 John 5:19), is the “father of lies” (see John 8:44), and his job description is to “steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” In order to achieve his aims, he most often lies to us and deceives us. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10:4 NKJV satan often disguises his forces to make them look like natural problems so you’ll fight them with natural weapons. But you cannot fight a spiritual foe with natural weapons but with spiritual weapons, i.e. speaking God’s word to the devil and his demons. “For satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” 2 Corinthians 11:14b NKJV Unfortunately satan can disguise himself as an “angel of light,” so it is possible to be deceived by an innocent and apparently correct Christian teaching (see Matthew 24:4, 24:5; Mark 13:5, 13:6; and Luke 21:8). Often these inaccurate or incomplete teachings focus on God’s love and blessings (thus appealing to our flesh and so lead us astray (see Mark 13:22 and 1 Timothy 4:1) and do not mention His greatness, or our need to obey Him and have a reverential fear of Him. This book aims to help reveal satan’s lie and deception strategies and so empower Christians to live the Christian life that God intended. R. Douglas Wardrop’s other two books are A Young Person’s Guide to Christianity and Spiritual Disciplines for Today – Getting Closer to God.

This book is about spiritual deceit the invisible enemy that has become a part of our nature. It is about that which is hidden in the hearts of man connecting him with the desires of his flesh. Since the fall of man and having been infected by a sinful nature, we struggle even to become aware of the working of this inquity that is out of control. This book reveals to us the blindness and influence that is the result of not accepting the fact that we must struggle spiritually in every area of our lives to overcome deceit and starting within. We can not accomplish this without the help of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Deception is the most powerful force against mankind and until we realize that we are in spiritual warfare, our perceptions of life will remain dim and confused. God hates deception even the practice of it for any reason. (Galatians 6:7, KJV)

“An excellent, balanced history of the 23rd Special Troops . . . may be one of the most important books to come out of World War II.” —Engineer Magazine No history of the war in Europe has ever taken into account the actions of the men of the US 23rd Special Troops. These men took part in over twenty-two deception operations against the German army. Some of these operations had tremendous impact upon how the battles in Europe were fought. The men who participated in these actions were sworn to secrecy for fifty years and are only now willing to talk about their role. The 23rd was composed of four main units. A signal deception unit to broadcast fake radio signals, an engineer camouflage unit to set up rubber dummies of tanks and trucks, a combat engineer unit to construct emplacements and provide local security, and a sonic deception company. The sonic unit was developed to fool German listening posts by playing audio recordings of various sounds, such as tanks moving up or bridges being built. The 23rd was the only tactical deception unit of the American Army in World War II combining all aspects of deception. This book also covers the birthplace of sonic deception, the Army Experimental Station at Pine Camp, and the 23rd’s smaller sister unit, the 3133rd Sonic Deception company that saw action for fourteen days in Italy. “Highly recommended reading as being a simply fascinating military history of a hidden aspect of World War II that would have a profound and lasting influence on military strategy and tactics.” —Midwest Book Review
