Resolution of Equations in Algebraic Structures: Volume 2, Rewriting Techniques is a collection of papers dealing with the construction of canonical rewrite systems, constraint handling in logic programming, and completion algorithms for conditional rewriting systems. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Rewriting Techniques and Applications, RTA-99, held in Trento, Italy in July 1999 as part of FLoC'99. The 23 revised full papers presented were carefully selected from a total of 53 submissions. Also included are four system descriptions as well as three invited contributions. Among the topics covered are constraint solving, termination, deduction and higher order rewriting, graphs, complexity, tree automata, context-sensitive rewriting, string rewriting and numeration systems, etc.

The 19th century has become especially relevant for the present--as one can see from, for example, large-scale adaptations of written works, as well as the explosion of commodities and even interactive theme parks. This book is an introduction to the novelistic refashionings that have come after the Victorian age with a special focus on revisions of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre and Charles Dickens's Great Expectations.
