It's the return of HIGH-ADVENTURE! It's the return of exciting, CLIFF-HANGING FUN! It's THE RETURN OF THE OWL! The Return of The Owl has its roots in old time action/adventure movie serials and radio shows. The story brings the fun of cliff-hanger excitement to the page once again. The Return of The Owl begins with a cancellation -- the cancellation of the long running action radio program "The Adventures of The Owl". Despondent and angry at the world for the cancellation of his program, its star, an obnoxious egotist named Gary Slate, gets totally drunk that night and staggers into a moving taxi -- or was he purposefully hit by the car? Was he, in fact, pushed? Slate suffers almost complete amnesia and after a period of convalescence, "re-education" and rehabilitation, he finds himself re-named, re-friended and thrust back into the masked-detective mold by a series circumstances. Only this time, he has become a real-life version of The Owl and suddenly finds himself battling wits with a real-life evil counterpart with real-life menace on his mind. The format of the story from this point is told in a fashion straight out of the movie serials; almost in pastiche style. Each chapter propels the story forward with one, or several, clues and plot twists. Each chapter has an obligatory action set-piece and ends with a de-rigueur cliffhanger (which, of course, is resolved at the beginning of the next chapter). The only thing missing is the fast-paced musical soundtrack! So hop into your "Owl-Mobile" and rush to get this fun, exciting adventure!

Amid the grandeur of the remote Pacific Northwest stands Kingcome, a village so ancient that, according to Kwakiutl myth, it was founded by the two brothers left on earth after the great flood. The Native Americans who still live there call it Quee, a place of such incredible natural richness that hunting and fishing remain primary food sources. But the old culture of totems and potlatch is being replaces by a new culture of prefab housing and alcoholism. Kingcome's younger generation is disenchanted and alienated from its heritage. And now, coming upriver is a young vicar, Mark Brian, on a journey of discovery that can teach him—and us—about life, death, and the transforming power of love.
