What comes to mind when you hear the word "missions"? Or better yet, what do you think you're going to read when you hold a book about the Great Commission? Guilt? Grand stories that seem so far out of reach? Separation between those who stay and those who go?It doesn't have to be this way. What if you could read a book that presented missions in a new light and gave value and purpose to each person in finding their unique place in the grand story that Jesus is writing in this hour of history? What if missionaries didn't have to be misunderstood and continually battling loneliness? What if we could see the process of the gospel going forth to every nation in a fresh, clear way?WHAT IF YOU AND I COULD ACTUALLY GO FURTHER TOGETHER?

Most evangelical Christians believe that those people who are not saved before they die will be punished in hell forever. But is this what the Bible truly teaches? Do Christians need to rethink their understanding of hell? In the late twentieth century, a growing number of evangelical theologians, biblical scholars, and philosophers began to reject the traditional doctrine of eternal conscious torment in hell in favor of a minority theological perspective called conditional immortality. This view contends that the unsaved are resurrected to face divine judgment, just as Christians have always believed, but due to the fact that immortality is only given to those who are in Christ, the unsaved do not exist forever in hell. Instead, they face the punishment of the "second death"--an end to their conscious existence. This volume brings together excerpts from a variety of well-respected evangelical thinkers, including John Stott, John Wenham, and E. Earl Ellis, as they articulate the biblical, theological, and philosophical arguments for conditionalism. These readings will give thoughtful Christians strong evidence that there are indeed compelling reasons for rethinking hell.

What should discipleship look like today? Is there common ground between those first New Testament disciples and disciples in the 21 Century? How did the gospel change the face of discipleship? These are some of the questions we need to consider if we are serious about the Great Commission: to be and make disciples. Since discipleship is Christ's idea, every generation needs to understand and embrace what he meant when he used this term. Rethinking Discipleship: The Quest offers 31 reflections that will inform and challenge your discipleship perspective and journey. Each reflection will help you discover what discipleship looks like today with Christ as the risen, ascended Savior who is now King of his kingdom.
