Family was created to be powerful. Adam and Eve were commissioned to tend the Garden of Eden, and their children were supposed to reproduce the culture of the Garden over the whole world. Unfortunately, in the Garden we were separated from the Father and family lost its identity, its purpose, and its power. Although we were orphans, the Father never stopped pursuing us, and "when the fullness of time had come," our loving Daddy sent Jesus on a rescue mission. He restored us back into the presence of the Father and to our identity. Family was and still is the Father's plan. The time is now for families to be restored and play a critical role in the "restoration of all things." This book provides key strategies that bring healing to your own heart, to your family relationships, and to the inheritance mindset. The result will be a restoration of power and influence that was your family's destiny from the beginning of time

To progress successfully through all of their stages of development, children need to grow up in good communities. Good communities do not occur without viable, productive families. In Restoring Power to Parents and Places, author Richard Kordesh makes a compelling call for the productive familys renewal and provides creative steps for parents, professionals, and policymakers to take to strengthen communities around all children. Kordeshs experiences as a planner, professor, and father, have taught him that productive families are vitally important to the creation of good communities around children. He details historically, and with contemporary examples, the forces in our society that place stresses on families in all sectors. Restoring Power to Parents and Places presents a pointed critique of economic and political forces that have harmed families, but it also offers practical suggestions for action by parents, community leaders, community development and planning professionals, and governments at the local, state, and federal levels. Restoring Power to Parents and Places celebrates the productive potentials of a familys habitat, and it provides tools for empowering familiesgiving them more time and ability to raise their children.

We see disturbing trends in society when one watches the news or scrolls through their social media feed. Divorce, fatherlessness, split families and domestic violence are some of the atrocities which have been the outcome for many years. Albert Pooley saw this trend in his Native American people and wanted to do something to help strengthen their families. He developed the Fatherhood Is Sacred(R) program promoting responsible fatherhood and strengthening individuals and families by laying a strong foundation of a purpose-driven life. Originally this book was written in manual form for Native American fathers and mothers taught by Mr. Pooley who is the founder of Native American Fatherhood and Families Association (NAFFA), located in Mesa, Arizona. As his message of that manual spread all over the country, there were many who wanted to buy the manual without taking the course to get the information. This was not the intent of the manual. To keep the integrity of the original intent of this program, we transformed the information in the manual to teach the principles of what Albert Pooley has taught since 2002 into this book, Restoring Family Unity: The Pathway to Building Strong Family Relationships. Mr. Pooley's ideals of the Creator, Choice, Vision, Teachable, Wisdom and Service are explained here with stories of participants who have benefited from Fatherhood is Sacred(R) and are strengthening their own families. Readers will find Restoring Family Unity: The Pathway to Building Strong Family Relationships inspiring as these principals will have a positive affect and will build relationships that will last forever.

This book explores the effects of trauma on newcomer students and presents stress-mitigating strategies that empower these multilingual students as they transition to a new environment. Diverse insights and experiences bring high-powered learning spaces to life. However, the cultural backgrounds of newcomer students and their families can be very different from the dominant norms of the new community, resulting in misalignments that constitute a persistent challenge. In addition, the process of arriving can exacerbate stress. Entering a new school or classroom means situating oneself within a new context of language, culture, community, and shifting personal identities. This transition shock contributes to a sense of diminished power. In serving these students, we can't afford to leave transition shock out of our conversations about trauma. We must not only stitch together pieces of culturally responsive practice and trauma-informed care but also become practitioners of stress-mitigating strategies that empower newcomer students. We must focus instruction on our students' unique identities. We must restore their power. In Restoring Students' Innate Power, newcomer educator and cultural competency expert Louise El Yaafouri presents * An understanding of transition shock and how stress and trauma affect recent arrivers. * The four pillars of transition shock and how they affect learning. * How students see themselves and how the cultural aspects of their identities inform teachers' work in mitigating transition shock. * How social-emotional learning links to trauma-informed practice. This book isn't exclusively about trauma; it's about restoring power. The distinction is critical. Focusing on the trauma or traumatic event roots us in the past. Restoration of power moves us forward.
