R. P. James in 1841 but the editors left entirely untouched many other interesting letters and papers, which are dealt with in the present volume. Much has been written of the political life and character of Charles Talbot, Earl and Duke of Shrewsbury, but little seems to have been known about his early days, when he was a minor under the guardianship Of the Earl of Cardigan, his grandfather, and others. Here we have a series Of his letters to Sir John Talbot, his uncle, beginning in 1673, when he was thirteen years Old, selections from which are given.
