Écrire relève d'un processus de résolution de problèmes complexes : celui qui écrit doit gérer à la fois l'ordre des idées, leur développement, leur pertinence, mais aussi le choix des mots, de la syntaxe, le genre du texte, l'orthographe, la graphie, la mise en page, etc. Or il existe un double paradoxe étonnant au sein du système éducatif : bien qu'elle soit l'instrument premier du travail intellectuel et scolaire, l'écriture n'a souvent qu'un statut de simple compétence transversale. Et alors qu'elle contribue largement à la sélection scolaire, elle est rarement objet d'étude à part entière. S'appuyant sur de nombreuses études d'écrits d'élèves, de l'école primaire au lycée, et témoignant de pratiques innovantes aux effets bénéfiques, cet ouvrage donne à voir plusieurs grands principes pour inventer, planifier et mettre en œuvre cet enseignement dans les classes : - considérer l'élève comme une " personne à part entière " avec l'ensemble de ses capacités à penser, questionner, hiérarchiser, et avec sa sensibilité ; - ne pas croire qu'écrire est une simple affaire de règles et de normes linguistiques ; - s'intéresser davantage à la réécriture (qui renseigne sur le processus d'écriture) qu'au produit final ; - modifier ses postures en tant qu'enseignant pour créer des conditions et des situations favorables à l'écriture. This book brings together multiple theoretical perspectives and disciplinary approaches to study the acquisition and development of written language by children as well as the implications for teaching and learning of writing practices in a variety of languages and cultural contexts. Chapters in this contributed volume present both theoretical contributions and results of research carried out with students and teachers from 11 countries (Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Israel, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, UK and USA) who speak seven different languages: Portuguese, Spanish, English, Italian, French, Dutch and Hebrew. By bringing together research developed in diverse cultural contexts it enriches the debates in the interdisciplinary field of writing studies by analyzing a wide range of topics at the interface between research and educational implications for the teaching and learning of writing by children. The book consists of five parts, each one addressing a specific set of topics. Part I presents studies on topics related to written language representation systems (phonological and morphological awareness) and on the relationship between grammar and the quality of texts of different genres. Part II includes studies related to compositional processes of writing texts, and the factors involved in these processes. Part III focuses on the difficulties faced by students during the acquisition and development of writing. Part IV is dedicated to chapters that discuss and compare writing practices in different social environments. Finally, chapters in part V deal with teaching and learning of writing in the school setting. Allowing learners to take some responsibility may seem obvious yet what is actually afforded to them, and how this process works, remains difficult to grasp. It is therefore essential to study the real objects of devolution and the roles played by the subjects involved. Devolution and Autonomy in Education questions the concept of devolution, introduced into the field of education in the 1980s from disciplinary didactics, and described in Guy Brousseau’s Theory of Didactical Situations in Mathematics as: the act by which the teacher makes the student take responsibility for a learning situation (adidactic) or problem and accepts the consequences of this transfer.
