The enclosed poems are on various subjects, most of which are my own personal, religious viewpoints from anything as typical as finding a poem at a garage sale(i.e., prayer by an unknown Confederate soldier), patriotic poems, two poems about dogs(i.e., Ode to Dominique, and O Good Shepherd) with religious crossovers, many of them carry my affinity toward angels, anywhere from a few lines(i.e., Hearken to the Angels), to mere mentionings of angels or other religious topics that I feel strongly about(i.e., Circles from Heaven, which is basically about man and wife, three poems about Christmas, poems either about Jesus or my personal feelings on societal topics, most of which I have tried to overlay religious topics, and mix them with how I feel certain topics of society should be. Then there are also everyday topics(i.e., nature, friendship, old neighbors, soothsayers, etc.) that may or may not have religious overtones, and poems on holidays(i.e., Easter, Memorial Day,the aforementioned Christmas poems, etc.) I tried to include poems also for those people who don't believe in God(i.e., Where do Athiests go?), all poems written with feeling and inspiration were not written to offend anyone, and said author apologozes aforehand if certain viewpoints of said poems, which were written with enjoyment, do offend anyone. The author hopes that if you do have a notion to pick up this book, that you will at least find one poem you do like, as the author tried to put some variety in her poetry.

Children are constantly exposed to negative self-defeating images and messages. Developing a sense of identity and understanding who you are can be a daunting task. Sometimes, girls can begin to rely on unhealthy messages to shape their perspectives of themselves. The goal of this book is to inspire the development of a healthy self-concept even in a world where differences may not be celebrated, values may be challenged, and dysfunctional social norms are promoted. Reflections of Me encourages young girls to accept and love who they are.

As humans, our names should remain in everyone’s minds as the real heroes in present in future generations. During a time when surrounding nations were looking into travelling to the moon and space, Pariya Rostami was looking for shelter to hide or a piece of bread for survival. Can people in countries where freedom reigns ever be aware of the hardships, suffering, and dreams buried below the earth that other people have to face? What do they think about the millions of poor and malnourished people that live in other countries? In a country like Iran, you can have the best and look forward to tomorrow, but still have no rights as a woman to live freely. But Rostami has become an angel of salvation to many through the knowledge she’s acquired through pain and suffering. She has a powerful touch that can heal many wounds and words to light a path to living free. She will continue to fight to defend humanity and her rights as a woman, even though writing these truths about her past could dig her own grave. About the Author Pariya Rostami has much love to give. She believes the world would be much more beautiful if we learned how to be kind and give happiness as a free gift to others without judgments or expectations. She learned to respect people’s beliefs and love them as a human first rather than rely on what they own, where they live, how much money they have, or what their race is. Her greatest desire is to put a smile on people’s faces who deserve it.

INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER From Academy Award–nominated actress and 2023 SeeHer award recipient America Ferrera comes a vibrant and varied collection of first-person accounts from prominent figures about the experience of growing up between cultures. America Ferrera has always felt wholly American, and yet, her identity is inextricably linked to her parents’ homeland and Honduran culture. Speaking Spanish at home, having Saturday-morning-salsa-dance-parties in the kitchen, and eating tamales alongside apple pie at Christmas never seemed at odds with her American identity. Still, she yearned to see that identity reflected in the larger American narrative. Now, in American Like Me, America invites thirty-one of her friends, peers, and heroes to share their stories about life between cultures. We know them as actors, comedians, athletes, politicians, artists, and writers. However, they are also immigrants, children or grandchildren of immigrants, indigenous people, or people who otherwise grew up with deep and personal connections to more than one culture. Each of them struggled to establish a sense of self, find belonging, and feel seen. And they call themselves American enthusiastically, reluctantly, or not at all. Ranging from the heartfelt to the hilarious, their stories shine a light on a quintessentially American experience and will appeal to anyone with a complicated relationship to family, culture, and growing up.

Flipping John Howard Griffin's classic Black Like Me, and extending Noel Ignatiev's How The Irish Became White into the present-day, Wise explores the meanings and consequences of whiteness, and discusses the ways in which racial privilege can harm not just people of color, but also whites. Using stories instead of stale statistics, Wise weaves a narrative that is at once readable and yet scholarly; analytical and yet accessible.
