As a result, this edition differs considerably from its predecessor. Additions have been made to the chapter on absorption spectra; the position of the rare earth elements in the Periodic Table has been more fully examined the newer work on mass Spectra has been described; the problem of transmutation has been given increased space to include the work of Rutherford on nitrogen; and the chapter on the isotopes has been slightly extended.
