El Manual de procedimientos médicos en simuladores clínicos, es una obra diseñada por el Centro de Enseñanza, Destrezas y Aptitudes Médicas en Simuladores Clínicos (CEDAM), con la finalidad de proporcionar un formato estándar que ofrezca una guía para el estudiante, acerca de todos los procedimientos médicos más frecuentes que se llevan a cabo en la práctica profesional, permitiendo enfocar los conocimientos teóricos y prácticos, a través de una estrategia innovadora, por medio de simuladores de baja, mediana y alta fidelidad. El contenido del Manual de procedimientos médicos en simuladores clínicos consta de 4 capítulos. El primero expone los procedimientos médicos en la atención primaria; por ejemplo: auscultación, exploración, técnicas de aplicación de medicamentos, procedimientos de tipo diagnóstico y de urgencias, entre otros. El segundo capítulo enfatiza la importancia de los conocimientos y aptitudes necesarias del estudiante, al momento de ingresar al quirófano. El tercero y cuarto capítulos fueron realizados para que el alumno conozca cuáles son las aptitudes y las habilidades necesarias para la atención de pacientes pediátricos y ginecológicos. El Manual de procedimientos médicos en simuladores clínicos muestra el modelo de aprendizaje a través de la simulación diseñada para el área médica, el cual permite que los alumnos de los diferentes semestres de la carrera de medicina puedan enfrentarse a diferentes escenarios realístico-virtuales, para adquirir las competencias clínicas necesarias, todo esto, con la finalidad de disminuir los errores médicos y mejorar su seguridad al momento de su aplicación ante un paciente real.

The Future of Nursing explores how nurses' roles, responsibilities, and education should change significantly to meet the increased demand for care that will be created by health care reform and to advance improvements in America's increasingly complex health system. At more than 3 million in number, nurses make up the single largest segment of the health care work force. They also spend the greatest amount of time in delivering patient care as a profession. Nurses therefore have valuable insights and unique abilities to contribute as partners with other health care professionals in improving the quality and safety of care as envisioned in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) enacted this year. Nurses should be fully engaged with other health professionals and assume leadership roles in redesigning care in the United States. To ensure its members are well-prepared, the profession should institute residency training for nurses, increase the percentage of nurses who attain a bachelor's degree to 80 percent by 2020, and double the number who pursue doctorates. Furthermore, regulatory and institutional obstacles-including limits on nurses' scope of practice-should be removed so that the health system can reap the full benefit of nurses' training, skills, and knowledge in patient care. In this book, the Institute of Medicine makes recommendations for an action-oriented blueprint for the future of nursing.

The Change Laboratory is a method for formative intervention in work communities that supports this kind of organizational learning. It is a path breaker in the area of work place learning due to its strong theoretical and research basis and the way that it integrates the change of organizational practices and individuals’ learning. It provides a way to develop practitioners’ transformative agency and capacity for creating and implementing new conceptual and practical tools for mastering their joint activity.

Based on twenty case studies of universities worldwide, and on a survey administered to leaders in 101 universities, this open access book shows that, amidst the significant challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, universities found ways to engage with schools to support them in sustaining educational opportunity. In doing so, they generated considerable innovation, which reinforced the integration of the research and outreach functions of the university. The evidence suggests that universities are indeed open systems, in interaction with their environment, able to discover changes that can influence them and to change in response to those changes. They are also able, in the success of their efforts to mitigate the educational impact of the pandemic, to create better futures, as the result of the innovations they can generate. This challenges the view of universities as "ivory towers" being isolated from the surrounding environment and detached from local problems. As they reached out to schools, universities not only generated clear and valuable innovations to sustain educational opportunity and to improve it, this process also contributed to transform internal university processes in ways that enhanced their own ability to deliver on the third mission of outreach

This Child-Friendly Schools (CFS) Manual was developed during three-and-a-half years of continuous work, involving the United Nations Children's Fund education staff and specialists from partner agencies working on quality education. It benefits from fieldwork in 155 countries and territories, evaluations carried out by the Regional Offices and desk reviews conducted by headquarters in New York. The manual is a part of a total resource package that includes an e-learning package for capacity-building in the use of CFS models and a collection of field case studies to illustrate the state of the art in child-friendly schools in a variety of settings.
