L'Enquête sur la participation et les limitations d'activités (EPLA) de 2001 est une enquête postcensitaire portant sur les adultes et les enfants dont les activités quotidiennes sont limitées en raison d'une condition ou d'un état. Un échantillon des personnes qui ont répondu oui aux questions filtres sur l'incapacité lors du recensement de 2001 ont été ajoutés dans la population visée par l'EPLA. Environ 35 000 adultes (de 15 ans et plus) et 8 000 enfants (de 14 ans et moins) vivant dans des ménages privés ou des ménages collectifs des 10 provinces ont été choisis pour participer à l'enquête. Les personnes vivant en établissement, à l'intérieur de réserves indiennes, au Yukon, dans les Territoires du Nord-Ouest et au Nunavut ont été exclues de l'enquête. Les données ont été recueillies après le recensement de 2001, à l'automne. Ces tableaux contiennent des données sur le niveau de scolarité, la participation à la population active et le revenu des adultes handicapés et non handicapés.

This report contains an analysis, from a feminist and intersectional perspective, of the legal framework governing 2 forms of trafficking in women in Canada, namely, the hiring of immigrant live-in caregivers, and the mail-order bride business. Immigrant live-in caregivers admitted into Canada under the Live-in Caregiver Program (LCP) may experience a situation of exploitation with the risk of violation of their fundamental rights. The 1st chapter of the report examines this question by analysing the LCP, legislation concerning the work of immigrant live-in caregivers, and contractual practices. It offers recommendations for rectifying the situation. Chapter 2 presents a portrait of mail-order brides and an examination of the unequal relationships that characterize this phenomenon. It then analyses the legal framework that governs the industry.

Le terme promotion de la santé en Afrique, près de 30 ans après l'adoption de la Charte d'Ottawa, continue d'avoir des connotations complètement hors du sens que lui confère cette charte. Cela n'est pas étonnant quand on sait que la notion de santé dans ce contexte africain équivaut à la lutte contre la maladie à travers les soins de santé dispensés par des professionnels de la santé dans des formations sanitaires et les hôpitaux. L'évolution que connait le continent depuis quelques décennies est de donner un peu plus de place à la communauté à travers les relais communautaires dans une participation communautaire vidée de son contenu, car le pouvoir n'est jamais passé entre les mains des communautés.C'est au vu de tout ceci que le présent ouvrage à sa raison d'être pour expliquer les fondements de l'autonomisation communautaire et de la promotion de la santé avec leur importance pour la région africaine en proie aux mauvais indicateurs de santé comparativement aux autres régions du monde.

Health researchers, the intended audience of this book, are not limited to scientists pursuing a research career. Are efforts to protect workers' rights compatible with the forces of globalization? How can minimum standards designed to protect labor rights be implemented in a world in which national labor law is more and more at the mercy of international forces beyond its control?
