Proceedings of a workshop held to assess the opportunity to establish a node of the Atlantic Maritime Ecological Science Cooperative in Prince Edward Island, which would address the ecological impacts of agricultural activity on terrestrial and coastal systems. Participants reviewed activities of the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Network in Atlantic Canada and other regions of the country, and a range of historical, current, and future monitoring and research studies in south-central Prince Edward Island. Topics of contributed papers include citizen participation in ecological science, historical land use changes, crop residue management, ecosystem information management, sediment monitoring, groundwater monitoring, data compilation and management, wildlife monitoring, and hedgerow classification and assessment.

Presents proceedings of a workshop conducted to produce an action plan focusing on Kejimkujik National Park as the first ecological research and monitoring site (Ecological Science Centre) in the Maritime Atlantic Ecozone, and to identify other sites and issues of concern to the regional environment. The first section summarizes results of discussions of the most important environmental issues in the Ecozone, and how and where they should be addressed. The second section reviews results of working group sessions on the following themes: building the regional research and monitoring framework; creating the institutional framework for management; the role of Kejimkujik National Park; and the long-term action plan. The appendix contains summaries of workshop presentations on such topics as ecological monitoring.

Presents proceedings of a workshop held to consider opportunities & challenges for protecting, restoring, and enhancing coastal habitats, with a focus on the Bay of Fundy. Presentations are organized under the following topic headings: nutrification of coastal waters; environmental issues & constraints in tidal power development; ecologically & community valued marine areas in the Bay of Fundy; scientific methods in Bay of Fundy investigations; communities, contaminants, & habitats in the Bay; and salt marshes & reserves in the Bay and Nova Scotia.
