The Julian Schwinger Centennial Conference of 2018 assembled many of Schwinger's students, colleagues, and friends to celebrate this towering figure of twentieth century physics one hundred years after his birth. This proceedings volume collects talks delivered on this occasion. They cover a wide range of topics, all related to Schwinger's rich scientific legacy — supplemented by personal recollections about Julian Schwinger, the physicist, the teacher, and the gentleman.Also included are an essay of 1985, co-authored by Schwinger but not published previously, as well as the transcripts of speeches by distinguished colleagues at the 1978 gathering when Schwinger's sixtieth birthday was celebrated.

This volume contains the proceedings of the Amitsur Centennial Symposium, held from November 1–4, 2021, virtually and at the Israel Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS), The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Jerusalem, Israel. Shimshon Amitsur was a pioneer in several branches of algebra, the leading algebraist in Israel for several decades who contributed major theorems, inspiring results, useful observations, and enlightening tricks to many areas of the field. The fifteen papers included in the volume represent the broad impact of Amitsur's work on such areas as the theory of finite simple groups, algebraic groups, PI-algebras and growth of rings, quadratic forms and division algebras, torsors and Severi-Brauer surfaces, Hopf algebras and braces, invariants, automorphisms and derivations.

In December 2001, the centennial of the first Nobel Prize was celebrated in Stockholm. To mark the occasion, the Swedish Academy organized a symposium on the theme of OC Witness LiteratureOCO. Talks were given by speakers from Asia, Africa and Europe, including three Nobel laureates in literature: Nadine Gordimer, Kenzaburo Oe and Gao Xingjian.The main objective of the symposium was to examine the concept of witness literature and its relevance to contemporary literature. This concept is relatively new and has not yet been defined clearly by literary criticism and scholarship. The discussion primarily alternated between two aspects of the topic: the particular claim to truth that witness literature puts forward, and the process that leads from catastrophe to creativity and that turns the victim into a writing witness with the power to suspend forgetfulness and denial.This volume, edited by Horace Engdahl, Permanent Secretary of the Swedish Academy, brings together all the talks given at the symposium."

This book comprises the Proceedings of the 12th International Congress on Mathematical Education (ICME-12), which was held at COEX in Seoul, Korea, from July 8th to 15th, 2012. ICME-12 brought together 3500 experts from 92 countries, working to understand all of the intellectual and attitudinal challenges in the subject of mathematics education as a multidisciplinary research and practice.
