The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association is the style manual of choice for writers, editors, students, and educators in the social and behavioral sciences, nursing, education, business, and related disciplines.

The aim of the American Psychiatric Association Practice Guideline series is to improve patient care. Guidelines provide a comprehensive synthesis of all available information relevant to the clinical topic. Practice guidelines can be vehicles for educating psychiatrists, other medical and mental health professionals, and the general public about appropriate and inappropriate treatments. The series also will identify those areas in which critical information is lacking and in which research could be expected to improve clinical decisions. The Practice Guidelines are also designed to help those charged with overseeing the utilization and reimbursement of psychiatric services to develop more scientifically based and clinically sensitive criteria.

Tell any smoker that his habit is unhealthy, and he most likely will agree. What mental process does a person go through when he or she continues to do something unhealthy? When an honest person tells a "white lie," what happens to his or her sense of integrity? If someone must choose between two equally attractive options, why does one's value judgement of the options change after the choice has been made? In 1954 Dr. Leon Festinger drafted a version of a theory describing the psychological phenomenon that occurs in these situations. He called it cognitive dissonance: the feeling of psychological discomfort produced by the combined presence of two thoughts that do not follow from one another. Festinger proposed that the greater the discomfort, the greater the desire to reduce the dissonance of the two cognitive elements. The second of two volumes to result from a national conference on work and well-being cosponsored by the APA [American Psychological Association] and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, this book investigates one of the most pivotal issues in the field of occupational mental health. Authors with backgrounds ranging from research to practice identify and analyze factors that contribute to and indicate stress among employees. With an eye to productivity and workplace constraints, they then document and discuss methods of both stress management and prevention.

The two-volume set LNCS 9562 and LNCS 9563 constitutes the refereedproceedings of the 13th International Conference on Theory ofCryptography, TCC 2016, held in Tel Aviv, Israel, in January 2016.
