Here are modern poems chosen for their individual excellence and their special appeal to young people. Exciting photographs accent the contemporary tone of the collection. From lighthearted Phyllis Mc-Ginley to pessimistic Ezra Pound; from the lyricism of Edna St. Vincent Millay to the vigor of Lawrence Ferlinghette; from Carl Sandburg on loneliness to Paul Dehn on the bomb -- such is the range. The little known or unknown poet and the widely recognized appear side by siide. Whatever the subject matter -- pheasant or flying saucer; lapping lake water or sonic boom; a deer hunt, a basketball, or a bud -- it is all poetry reflecting today's images and today's moods. The editors spent several years bringing together 1200 poems they considered fine enough to include, then slowly and carefully sifted out of 114 which appear in the book. Readers of Reflections on a Gift of Watermelon Pickle . . . and Other Modern Verse may well be tempted by Eve Merriam's suggestion in "How to Eat a Poem" center Don't be polite Bite in. Pick it up with your fingers and lick The juice that may run down your chin. It is ready and ripe now, whenever you are.

This text contains three sections, first section, and book one contains various situations in life that will be experienced by most people in the past, present and in the future if we cannot evolve. What is our most precious gift? time is our most precious gift and without time there is nothing. We look at change and the issues of today and how they are recycled from issues of the past, can human nature ever change. The fight between good over evil hope over desire and life over death. The world we live in the vast universe that surrounds us and the tiny little section of this unfathomable world we reside in. The second section book two contains various poems over the years that I have written. The three main topics are love, stories and dark situations for you enjoyment. Some of the poems are from my experience and some are from the imagination. The next section book three contains an array of quotes consisting of all different topics. For example there are quotes about character, struggle, good and evil, and the present, past and the future. The majority of quotes are from life in general and how hopefully we can move in the right direction and be aware of our surroundings and the people we come in contact with. One take away from our time together is do not depend on anyone or anything, the path to the future is hard work dedication and loyalty, if you rely on circumstance you will have to tolerate your environment.

Divine Reflections is a book of spiritual poetry. God and His Son, Jesus are my first love, and I profoundly enjoy writing about them through poetry. The poems are enlightening and spiritually significant in worshipping and serving them. The principle aspects of the poems are to promote Gods Word, and encourage saintly behavior. This is imperative to all Gods people who want a closer relationship with Him. He loves all His people, whether they are a believer or non-believer.Yet, its His desire to have everyone love and glorify Him, repent for their sins, and accept Jesus as their Savior. In addition, He wants them to embody the Holy Ghost, and live their lives steadfast in Faith and works, exercising holiness. Saintly behavior rooted in holiness is the crown all believers and saints of God desire to wear in their heaven oriented relationship with Him, and His son, Jesus. Divine Reflections consist of lucent accounts of Jesus life, saint building prayers, and a diversity of praises. These are enjoyable powerful spiritual elements that govern true believers and saints of God.The family and nature poems are crafted from a natural point of view, true to spiritual roots. The nature poems applaud Gods creations, herald praises and thanksgiving for His all knowing and omnipresent spirit. The family poems conveyed in tender simplicity, are Gods superior natural blessings. They are endowed to all His people, both the believer and nonbeliever. Divine Reflections has been a delight for me to write. Im a saint of God, and its gives me great pleasure to craft poems based on His Word.I love Gods Word, and with the help of the Holy Ghost, I strive to exhibit the saintly behavior that it commands. In doing so, Im earnestly seeking His promise of eternal life. Its my hope, the vividly crafted poems, first and foremost will inspire the reader to read Gods Word more and heed the spiritual principles that encourage saintly behavior. Its also my hope for the reader to enjoy reading the poetry.

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of What Went Wrong? tells the story of his extraordinary life After September 11, Americans who had never given much thought to the Middle East turned to Bernard Lewis for an explanation, catapulting What Went Wrong? and later Crisis of Islam to become number one bestsellers. He was the first to warn of a coming "clash of civilizations," a term he coined in 1957, and has led an amazing life, as much a political actor as a scholar of the Middle East. In this witty memoir he reflects on the events that have transformed the region since World War II, up through the Arab Spring. A pathbreaking scholar with command of a dozen languages, Lewis has advised American presidents and dined with politicians from the shah of Iran to the pope. Over the years, he had tea at Buckingham Palace, befriended Golda Meir, and briefed politicians from Ted Kennedy to Dick Cheney. No stranger to controversy, he pulls no punches in his blunt criticism of those who see him as the intellectual progenitor of the Iraq war. Like America’s other great historian-statesmen Arthur Schlesinger and Henry Kissinger, he is a figure of towering intellect and a world-class raconteur, which makes Notes on a Century essential reading for anyone who cares about the fate of the Middle East.
