Excerpt from Portraits of Women of the Bible: Old Testament Series The following character-sketches were given in the ordinary course of my pulpit ministrations. The members of the congregation were interested in them during their delivery, and the suggestion was made that they might be put into a more permanent form hence this volume. The title of the book sufficiently describes its aim; the lectures are pen-portraits, and the endeavour has been to faithfully reproduce the living features of the original. I have ventured, however, in one or two of the sketches - as e.g. In the case of Rizpah - to fill up that which was lacking in the Scripture narrative in order to give a measure of completeness to the portrait. In others a few simple lessons are suggested; but for the most part the character-sketch is allowed to speak for itself. They didn't get as much ink--but they contributed amazing things to the history of God's people. Learn all about them in Women of the Bible, an intriguing, illustrated reference book from Barbour Publishing. Covering women's roles and jobs, daily experiences, and interactions with Bible men, this book brings clarity to some of the strange, confusing, and forgotten stories of scripture. Also featuring lists of every named woman of scripture and most of the unnamed females, Women of the Bible is fully illustrated in color. It's "readable reference," equally helpful for study or pleasure.

Full Image is a collection of portraits and stories of 33 different women from the Bible. Each portrait is an original watercolor and ink illustration I've created. This coffee-table style book is filled with symbolism and imagery that reimagines the lives of these powerful women, giving a fresh look at ancient stories. A Closer Look page accompanies each portrait, with descriptions of different elements of each piece. This book is designed to spark the imagination, inspire, and empower people to rethink how we view women in the church and the world around us. Women make up half the world's population. Women make up half of the Church. Women make up half of our communities. Together, when men and women work and lead side by side, the Full Image of God is more profoundly expressed. I grew up hearing or reading about women from the Bible, but today I see a new significance in each one. The images you'll find in this book are watercolor and ink illustrations that combine research with my imagination and artistic liberty. Each portrait contains symbols, colors, and themes that relate to the culture, region, origin, family, age, or ethnicity of that particular woman. Each story I wrote is a simple, straightforward retelling as it's found in the Bible, with bits of commentary about the culture or context. I hope their stories speak to you as they have to me, giving you a new vision for your own life and the God-sized impact you were created to make.
