Organozinc reagents are less reactive than Grignard reagents but they are much more chemoselective. Since the Negishi cross-coupling reaction developed by Ei-ichi Negishi, who was awarded the Nobel Price in chemistry in 2010, a number of cross-coupling reactions involving organozinc derivatives and transition metal catalysts (Pd, Ni, Fe, Co, Cu, ...) has been tuned up to form C-C bonds. This book on "Organozinc derivatives and transition metal catalysts" has been written by experts in the field and is a complement to the book entitled "Grignard reagents and transition metal catalysts" (a De Gruyter book, edited by J. Cossy). Grignard reagents or organozinc reagents, that is the question? From a given substrate, what is the best organometallic reagent and the best transition metal to form a C-C bond by using a cross-coupling reaction? The solution might be found in these two books.

Homogeneous catalysis is an important strategy for the synthesis of high-valued chemicals. L. Brandsma has carefully selected and checked the experimental procedures illustrating the catalytic use of copper, nickel, and palladium compounds in organic synthesis. All procedures are on a preparative scale, make economic use of solvents and catalysts, avoid toxic substances and have high yields.

"Heterocycles from Transition Metal Catalysis: Formation and Functionalization" provides a concise summary of the prominent role of late transition metal (palladium, nickel, copper) catalysed processes in the synthesis and functionalization of heterocyclic systems. It gives an introduction to catalytic transformations, an overview of the most important reaction types, and presents synthetically useful catalytic processes classified by the target system and the type of transformation. The book provides a representative selection of transition metal catalysed reactions transformations that are relevant in heterocyclic chemistry. In this way, the authors present a useful resource for members of the academic community looking for a textbook as well as industrial chemists in search of a reference book. This book will be an invaluable resource for synthetic chemists, medicinal chemists, and those more generally interested in applied catalysis.

The two-part, fifth edition of Advanced Organic Chemistry has been substantially revised and reorganized for greater clarity. The material has been updated to reflect advances in the field since the previous edition, especially in computational chemistry. Part B describes the most general and useful synthetic reactions, organized on the basis of reaction type. It can stand-alone; together, with Part A: Structure and Mechanisms, the two volumes provide a comprehensive foundation for the study in organic chemistry. Companion websites provide digital models for students and exercise solutions for instructors.

Showcases the important role of organometallic chemistry in industrial applications and includes practical examples and case studies This comprehensive book takes a practical approach to how organometallic chemistry is being used in industrial applications. It uniquely offers numerous, real-world examples and case studies that aid working R&D researchers as well as Ph.D. and postdoc students preparing to ace interviews in order to enter the workforce. Edited by two world-leading and established industrial chemists, the book covers flow chemistry (catalytic and non-catalytic organometallic chemistry), various cross-coupling reactions (C-C, C-N, and C-B) in classical batch chemistry, conjugate addition reactions, metathesis, and C-H arylation and achiral hydrogenation reactions. Beginning with an overview of the many industrial milestones within the field over the years, Organometallic Chemistry in Industry: A Practical Approach provides chapters covering: the design, development, and execution of a continuous flow enabled API manufacturing route; continuous manufacturing as an enabling technology for low temperature organometallic chemistry; the development of a nickel-catalyzed enantioselective Mizoroki-Heck coupling; and the development of iron-catalyzed Kumada cross-coupling for the large scale production of Aliskiren intermediates. The book also examines aspects of homogeneous hydrogenation from industrial research; the latest industrial uses of olefin metathesis; and more. -Includes rare industrial case studies difficult to find in current literature -Helps readers successfully carry out their own reactions -Covers topics like flow chemistry, cross-coupling reactions, and dehydrative decarbonylation -Features a foreword by Nobel Laureate R. H. Grubbs -A perfect resource for every R&D researcher in industry -Useful for PhD students and postdocs: excellent preparation for a job interview Organometallic Chemistry in Industry: A Practical Approach is an excellent resource for all chemists, including those working in the pharmaceutical industry and organometallics.

The individual chapters in this volume cover the scope and impact of main group organometallic compounds and reagents on organic synthesis during the last ten to fifteen years. In a number of chapters, topics are dealt with in detail that either were not covered at all in COMC (eg selenium, tellurium) or were given scant attention (eg oxymercuration, organoantimony compounds). Certain topics, like directed metallation and LiKOR bases have only achieved prominence in synthesis in the last ten years, and are now reviewed by leading experts.
