Nuclear Localization of Growth Factors and of Monoclonal Antibodies focuses on how an additional class of chromatin receptors is directly involved in mediation of the action of growth factors on the gene regulation level. The book describes a new intracellular pathway of growth factors and presents methods for identifying nuclear antigens with an epitopic homology of the cell surface antigens. It teaches how to distinguish monoclonal antibodies that penetrate the cell and localize in the nucleus from those that act only on the cell surface. New light is shed on the mechanisms of malignant transformation, and new approaches to developing anti-cancer and anti-HIV drugs are covered. The book will be important for oncologists, biochemists, cell biologists, pharmaceutical researchers, investigative pathologists, neurochemists, and immunologists.

At the moment, there is no dedicated book to summarize the roles, the significance, and potential therapeutic targeting of transcriptional factors from the perspective of signaling cascade, and thus, directly impacting the functionality of transcriptional factors in cancer. In addition, this book will offer a comprehensive basic and clinical science behind the functions of representative core transcriptional factors. These chapters will serve as a treasure for all those who have an interest in the basis, progression, and targeting of human cancer. Each chapter will be intended to provide comprehensive, up-to-date information by the leaders about the physiologic and pathologic roles of TFs in specific representative organ systems of prime importance. The book will consist of chapters that will give biomedical students, under and graduate students, basic sciences and clinical cancer fellows, residents and researchers, and oncology educators will get a thorough summary of the overall subject. The readers will be able to understand the important current information and views on specific TFs and its role in cancer in areas outside their own expertise or experience. A special emphasis will be also placed on the "classic" papers as well as perspectives on future directions for the field.

This Series provides a comprehensive survey of the major topics in the field of developmental biology. The volumes are valuable to researchers in animal and plant development, as well as to students and professionals who want an introduction to cellular and molecular mechanisms of development. The Series has recently passed its 30-year mark, making it the longest-running forum for contemporary issues in developmental biology.

Squamous epithelia form the lining surface of tissues in contact with the environment: the skin, oral mucosa, esophagus and respiratory tract, the genital tract, and several other specialized tissues. These tissues are at highest risk for exposure to environmental carcinogens such as UV, tobacco smoke and infectious agents. Cancers that form in squamous epithelia are among the most common human solid tumors and have high morbidity and mortality. These cancers include squamous cell carcinoma of the skin, oral cancer, head and neck and esophageal cancer, certain lung cancers and cervical cancer. We propose to organize the book so that the early chapters will focus on individual pathways and more specific mechanisms in both normal function and cancer, while the later chapters will be more integrative and include overviews of biomarkers and therapeutic development. This should increase interest for clinically oriented researchers. All authors will be encouraged to provide a balanced review in addition to highlighting their own work.

Strategies to reduce medical uncertainty and build evidence have become critical to the advancement of medical knowledge and modern medical practice. As new techniques and strategies have arisen, so has the need for a current reference work. Drug Discovery and Design examines the latest research in the development of these new strategies. Some of the topics covered include angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, HIV protease inhibitors, PPAR agonists for diabetes, and glucan synthase antifungal agents.
