This book presents a true language acquisition curriculum for the Nobiin language, an endangered Nile-Nubian language spoken in South Egypt and North Sudan. The book is part of a series for Nobiin language acquisition called "Nobiinga-Kullan." This elementary book introduces the orthography for writing Nobiin, basic description for phonology and phonetics, basic grammar lessons, and the basic vocabulary needed for communications. This book is also designed to present a standardized form of Nobiin grammar for easy learnability purposes. In addition, this book is accompanied by audio recordings that provide the needed listening practices. The main goal is to create a systematic method that helps language learners develop the four skills: writing, reading, speaking, and listening. In addition, I present this book to linguists and other scholars in Nubian studies.

This reference grammar provides a novel and detailed overview of Old Nubian, an extinct Nilo-Saharan language written in the Nubian kingdom of Makuria between the 8th and 15th centuries CE. Including more than 700 glossed examples sourced from manuscripts and inscriptions covering the entire written record, this standard work treats Old Nubian syntax, topic/focus constructions, subordination and coordination, verbal morphology including person, aspect, tense, pluractionality, affirmation, and negation, nominal morphology, derivation, and phonology. The grammar is aimed both at scholars working in the fields of Nubiology, Egyptology, and Near Eastern Studies curious to gain a better understanding of one of the lesser studied languages from the medieval period, and linguists interested in one of the few historical languages of which written records have survived on the African continent.

"In Toponymy on the Periphery, Julien Charles Cooper conducts a study of the rich geographies preserved in Egyptian texts relating to the desert regions east of Egypt. These regions, filled with mines, quarries, nomadic camps, and harbours are often considered as an unimportant hinterland of the Egyptian state, but this work reveals the wide explorations and awareness Egyptians had of the Red Sea and its adjacent deserts, from the Sinai in the north to Punt in the south. The book attempts to locate many of the placenames present in Egyptian texts and analyse their etymology in light of Egyptian linguistics and the various foreign languages spoken in the adjacent deserts and distant shores of the Red Sea"--
