Their suggestions for the sampling of coal are those, in the main, which are used in ore sampling. The Official Method for the determination of Moisture is as follows: Dry a one gram sample of the coal in an open porcelain or platinum crucible at 104-1070 for an hour, best in a double-walled bath containing toluene.
