Landings of fish and shellfish at North Carolina ports during July 1958 amounted to 33.3 million pounds--171 percent above the quantity landed during the same month of 1957. Menhaden (29.2 million pounds) was up 22.1 million pounds from July 1957.

Landings of fish and shellfish at North Carolina ports during November 1959 amounted to 70.3 million pounds--a gain of 60 percent compared with the same month of 1958. Most of the increase occurred in the catch of menhaden (66.3 million pounds) which was nearly 26 million pounds greater than November 1958.

Landings of fish and shellfish at North Carolina ports during October 1958 amounted to 8.1 million pounds--a decline of 36 percent compared with the same month of 1957. Menhaden and thread herring (4.6 million pounds) accounted for 56 percent of the month's total catch, and represented a decline of over 3.8 million pounds.

Landings of fish and shellfish at North Carolina ports during December 1958 amounted to 108.5 million pounds--a gain of 48.4 million pounds or 81 percent compared with the corresponding month of 1957. Menhaden (106.2 million pounds) accounted for 98 percent of the month's total catch.
