Nordic Gothic traces Gothic fiction in the Nordic region from its beginnings in the nineteenth century, with a main focus on the development of Gothic from the 1990s onwards in literature, film, TV and new media. The volume gives an overview of Nordic Gothic fiction in relation to transnational developments and provides a number of case studies and in-depth analyses of individual narratives. It creates an understanding of this under-researched cultural phenomenon by showing how the narratives make visible cultural anxieties haunting the Nordic countries, their welfare systems, identities and ideologies. Nordic Gothic examines how figures from Nordic folklore function as metaphorical expressions of Gothic themes and Nordic settings are explored from perspectives such as ecocriticism and postcolonialism. The book will be of interest to researchers and post- and- undergraduate students in various fields within the Humanities.

From the fresh catches of the sea to sweet pastries, the people of Scandinavia have developed some astonishingly mouth-watering dishes. The cuisine today may be called New Scandinavian, but the principals of this diet are rooted in history. The Vikings are to thank for Scandinavian cuisine, which features mussels and oysters. The Vikings didn't have supermarkets. What they couldn't glean from the sea or lakes, they gathered from the earth, so we also see plenty of vegetables and fruits in their recipes. You'll enjoy cucumbers, potatoes, beets, and apples, just to name a few. When you recreate Nordic dishes at home, you'll be in awe of the vast array of ingredients. Your family and guests will enjoy learning about this stunning land from their equally magnificent food.

The world economy today is at an historical inflection point. The neoclassical (industrial) model of economics is self-destructing while a new life-mimicking model, based on radically different assumptions, is emerging. Although rarely acknowledged in economic journals, Nordic countries, which pioneered the life-mimicking model, have become world leaders in prosperity and productivity while those operating on the older neoclassical/industrial model are trapped in downward spirals. By approaching economies as sub-systems of life rather than super-systems that transcend life, we gain transformative insights. Such thinking led to the first circular economy experiments in Kalundborg (Denmark) during the 1970s, then quickly spread to the rest of the Nordic world. By placing a higher value on living assets (people and Nature) than on non-living capital assets, this approach generates harmony rather than exploitation and conflict. Because Nordic people feel vested in the system and responsible for its success, they are extraordinarily innovative and productive. That is why Nordic companies are regularly rated among the world’s most sustainable and profitable in their fields – even though their region holds less than half of one percent of the world’s population. Written in an accessible way for non-economists, the book is ideal for readers interested in the benefits of biomimicry and methods of guiding democratic countries along a proven path of self-renewal. Economies That Mimic Life will also provide useful background for corporate leaders in scenario planning and strategic thinking. Knowing which way the political-economic wind is blowing will become increasingly important to corporate survival.

Eons ago God created the terrestrial universe filled with billions of galaxies for the Angelic citizens of Heaven, who cultivated these innumerable planetary systems and created vast empires. The Archangels ruled these galactic realms under God's directives and governmental system known as, The United Federation Of Kingdom Nations. Lucifer, whose heart became rot with sin, sparked a revolution of destruction, taking with him one third of the Angels, creating the Unholy Six Galactic Alliance. The fallen ones were turned into hideous Red Dragons called, Draco-Reptilians, known as the Draconians, who waged an all out war throughout the Kingdom in the hopes of taking the very Throne of Heaven. To counter the supreme Serpentine-Dragon, Satan, the dark sorcerer of Rahab, Yeshua established the Guardian Knights, led by Michael, who traverse the universe waging war against the evil empire and delivering liberty, freedom, and justice to all.
