This four volume report was prepared in order to compile, describe, and apply available nonlinear analysis and design techniques for space vehicle attitude control systems and to outline additional areas of future effort to improve present analysis and design procedures. Each of the four volumes is relatively independent of the others. Volume I is a definition and description of the problems associated with the design of the space vehicle attitude control systems. Volume II treats in detail the principal techniques for the analysis of nonlinear control systems and shows the application of these techniques to specific attitude control system problems. Volume III discusses three general problems in space vehicle attitude control systems, (1) single axis on-off gas jet system design, (2) active attitude control system design for a spin-stabilized vehicle, and (3) the design of a control system for a satellite vehicle with reaction wheels and gas jets. Volume IV is a collection of references and bibliography with annotations and comments covering the spectrum of the study effort.

This project addresses the development of both control synthesis and analysis methods for affordable, highly integrated nonlinear aircraft control systems through basic research and development of control science and dynamical systems theory. The technical approach is to explore the following three primary research areas: (1) stability analysis, (2) robust nonlinear control, and (3) robust reconfigurable control. The stability analysis task assesses robustness of a baseline flight control system. The analysis results are used to develop on-board model and control allocation requirements for the other two tasks. The robust nonlinear control task includes development of compact on-board model and dynamic control allocation synthesis methods. The reconfigurable control design task includes development of an on-board model update synthesis method. The main accomplishment for the stability analysis task is using structured singular value analysis to formalize control allocation stability implications and to specify stability and control derivative accuracy requirements for on-board model synthesis. The main accomplishments for the robust nonlinear control design task are development of a dynamic control allocation formulation and development of a compact on-board model synthesis method. The main accomplishment for the robust reconfigurable control design task is the development of an on-line learning method for on-board model updates to enhance the robustness of indirect adaptive flight control systems.

This pages include the results derived during last ten years about both suppression and synchronization of chaotic -continuous time- systems. Along this time, our concept was to study how the intrinsic properties of dynamical systems can be exploited to suppress and to synchronize the chaotic behavior and what synchronization phen- ena can be found under feedback interconnection. Our findings have caused surprise to us and have stimulated our astonishing capability. Perhaps, reader can imagine our faces with opens eyes like children seeing around objects; which are possibly obvious for others and novel for us. A compilation of our surprises about these findings is being described along this book. Book contains both objectives to share our ama- ment and to show our perspective on synchronization of chaotic systems. Thus, while we were writing the preface, we discussed its scope. Thinking as a book readers, we found that a preface should answer, in few words, the following question: What can the reader find in this book?, reader can find our steps toward understanding of c- otic behavior and the possibility of suppressing and synchronizing it. We firstly show the chaos suppression form experimental domain to potential implementation in high tech system as a levitation system based on High Temperature Superconductors (HTS). This chapter is used as departing point towards a more complicated problem the chaotic synchronization. Then, reader travels by the synchronization of the chaotic behavior world throughout distinct feedback approaches.

th This volume is an edition of the papers selected from the 13 International Conference on Advanced Robotics, ICAR 2007, held in Jeju, Korea, August 22-25, 2007, with the theme: “Viable Robotics Service to Human. ” It is intended to deliver readers the most recent technical progress in robotics, in particular, toward the advancement of robotic service to human. To ensure its quality, this volume took only 28 papers out of the 214 papers accepted for publication for ICAR 2007. The selection was based mainly on the technical merit, but also took into consideration whether the subject represents a theme of current interest. For the final inclusion, authors of the selected papers were requested for another round of revision and expansion. In this volume, we organize the 28 contributions into three chapters. Chapter 1 covers Novel Mechanisms, Chapter 2 deals with perception guided navigation and manipulation, and Chapter 3 addresses human-robot interaction and intelligence. Chapters 1, 2 and 3 consist of 7, 13 and 8 contributions, respectively. For the sake of clarity, Chapter 2 is divided further into two parts with Part 1 for Perception Guided Navigation and Part 2 for Perception Guided Manipulation. Chapter 3 is also divided into two parts with Part 1 for Human- Robot Interaction and Part 2 for Intelligence.
