Even though diversity is currently conveyed as a ubiquitous principle within institutions of higher education, professionals of color still face issues such as discrimination, the glass ceiling, lack of mentoring, and limited access to career networks. Unfortunately, an open channel does not exist for professionals of color to express their frustrations and genuine concerns. The narratives in No Ways Tired present a powerful voice about the experiences of student affairs professionals of color in higher education, including intersecting identities such as race, class, and gender. Furthermore, the narratives are nuggets of personal truth that can serve as a lens for professionals of color who wish to develop strategies to succeed as they traverse their careers in higher education. Through the sharing of their visions of success, lessons learned, and cautionary tales, the authors openly offer insights about how they have created a way to survive and thrive within higher education in spite of challenges and distractions. They also articulate a vision where student affairs professionals of color can develop fully, be authentic, use their agency, and effectively contribute. This book includes recommendations for professionals of color at all levels within higher education and ways to construct opportunities to flourish. The ultimate goal for this book is to promote discussions regarding how professionals of color can be more proactive in developing strategies that are conducive to their professional and personal success as they navigate their higher education careers.

A book that is non-fiction about a black family trials and tribulations and triumphs in the south and a black womans traditional calling of midwifery to help her community and women who otherwise would be unable to pay the fee of the white doctor in town to deliver their babies. A story of a family that overcame the odds and made a way out of no way while farming, picking cotton and being treated unfairly but continued to have love and kindness in their community and befriended a white family that the midwife my grandmother would deliver their children as well and they would coexist on the same land amicably. A resurgence of midwifery is taking place in the twenty-first century this tradition of old has never completely vanished especially in third world countries where 75% of babies are delivered by midwives.

Abel Bartley's new book "In No Ways Tired" is both the unique story of a particular Florida community's struggle with the integration of public schools, and a reflection of similar experiences throughout the South where integration "with all deliberate speed" took decades to achieve. In this case study of a presumed "New South" metropolis, Professor Bartley adds a significant contribution to the growing body of scholarship debunking the long-held notion that Florida has been an historical exception to the rabid racism of the Deep South. As this work demonstrates, in unison with other recent pioneering works, the Sunshine State has not earned its popular reputation for being a "moderate" entity of Dixie on race relations, particularly in regard to its troubling and sometimes bloody odyssey of public school desegregation. This book should be in the library of anyone interested in African American history, the Civil Rights era, or the development of our public education system.

The voice types of soloists are included, as is the level of dialect used by various performers. The composers, publishers and format information are also listed when available. While structured like a discography, this guide extends beyond solely providing historical context and encourages the use of the recordings themselves.
