This book offers a theoretically informed study of recent Chinese initiatives to provide forms of regional economic governance; or as it is often termed in Chinese discourses, regional “public goods”. It does so by considering the evolution of Chinese thinking on international relations and the global order, and by considering how the development of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the putative Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership reflect this change in thinking – and the change in both Chinese objectives and tactics.

Academic literature used to lack a taxonomy regarding the types of repeatable structures and approaches that incumbent companies can use in order to deal with frequently business model threatening open innovation developments – threats that are often facilitated by start-up companies. The course of investigation provides a clustering taxonomy for these structures, so-called: corporate open innovation initiatives. Subsequently, the validity is tested by an in-depth analysis of Germany's 500 biggest companies along with 50 biggest banks and 30 biggest insurances. Furthermore, multiple case studies with industry experts show applicable management's best practices. Finally, a management framework is developed, which aims to be a summarizing tool for practitioners and researchers in order to define a suitable corporate strategy for creating an own corporate open innovation initiative.

The area of physics involving muons and neutrinos has become exciting in particle physics. Using their high intensity sources, physicists undertake, in various ways, extensive searches for new physics beyond the Standard Model, such as tests of supersymmetric grand unification (SUSY-GUT) and precision measurements of the muon and neutrino properties, which will in future extend to ambitious studies such as determination of the three-generation neutrino mixing matrix elements and CP violation in the lepton sector. The physics of this field is advancing, with potential improvements of the sources. Many R&D projects, such as those concerning high intensity, low energy muon sources or a neutrino factory, are being carried out or planned at various places. Some of those topics are included in this book.

Abstract: In response to a Congressional call for action, Federal initiatives to improve and expand research, extension and higher education programs in human nutrition, home economics and family life are proposed. Federal commitments to strong human resources-oriented programs in agriculture focus on 4 high-priority problems: family economic stability and security; energy and environment; food, nutrition and health; and family strengths and social environment. An implementation plan for each proposal suggests research and higher education activities, integration arrangements, and 2-, 5- and 10- year targets. Proposed plans are to be conducted cooperatively by the USDA, land-grant universities, and cooperative extension services. The relationship between family needs and the foodand agricultural system must be closely examined. Strong research and educational programs need Federal leadership, financial support and concerted effort in order to solve theproblems of families in the 1980's.

NASA Ames Research Center, in the heart of Silicon Valley, is embarking on a program to develop a science and technology park bringing together leading companies and universities to capitalize on Ames' exceptional mission and location. Other initiatives under consideration include the integration of SBIR grants with a planned on-site incubator, virtual collaboration, and possibly a new public venture capital program. The STEP Board was asked by the NASA Administrator to hold a one-day symposium to review these initiatives. This report includes commissioned research papers and a summary of the proceedings of the symposium organized in response to the NASA request.
