Suddenly, nothing can be taken for granted: visiting ailing relatives, shopping--or going to church. The internet and, particularly, social networking sites have become the indispensable infrastructure holding our sociability together. The global companies of the digital economy profited handsomely. How about the users of their services? This volume explores how priests inhabit the digital environment of social networking sites, specifically Facebook. The authors looked at how they present themselves, what they publish, and how people engage with this content. The context of the pandemic suggested that we should also examine how digital technology and social media are being used for purposes of priestly ministry. Our hope is that these analyses and considerations will help not just priests but every person at becoming proficient not only in things virtual but also in practicing virtue.

Based on the theme of the use of computers for supporting collaborative learning, this book includes contributions that aim to bridge both research tracks, the one focusing on interactions and the other on contents: the pedagogical use of digital portfolios, both for promoting individual reflections and for scaffolding group interactions.

This publication covers papers presented at AIED2009, part of an ongoing series of biennial international conferences for top quality research in intelligent systems and cognitive science for educational computing applications. The conference provides opportunities for the cross-fertilization of techniques from many fields that make up this interdisciplinary research area, including: artificial intelligence, computer science, cognitive and learning sciences, education, educational technology, psychology, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, linguistics, and the many domain-specific areas for which AIED systems have been designed and evaluated. AIED2009 focuses on the theme "Building learning systems that care: from knowledge representation to affective modelling". The key research question is how to tackle the complex issues related to building learning systems that care, ranging from representing knowledge and context to modelling social, cognitive, metacognitive, and affective dimensions. This requires multidisciplinary research that links theory and technology from artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and computer science with theory and practice from education and the social sciences.

This volume examines how people deal with information in a computerized environment, looking at what happens when people actively explore information space looking for objects without specific goals in mind. The topics are particularly relevant to the industrial application of computer supported cooperative work (CSCW) techniques, especially with regard to teleworking and virtual organizations. This volume will be useful for researchers interested in human computer interaction, virtual communities, and information visualization.

The 10th International Conference on Intelligent Tutoring Systems, ITS 2010, cont- ued the bi-annual series of top-flight international conferences on the use of advanced educational technologies that are adaptive to users or groups of users. These highly interdisciplinary conferences bring together researchers in the learning sciences, computer science, cognitive or educational psychology, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and linguistics. The theme of the ITS 2010 conference was Bridges to Learning, a theme that connects the scientific content of the conf- ence and the geography of Pittsburgh, the host city. The conference addressed the use of advanced technologies as bridges for learners and facilitators of robust learning outcomes. We received a total of 186 submissions from 26 countries on 5 continents: Aust- lia, Brazil, Canada, China, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, the UK and USA. We accepted 61 full papers (38%) and 58 short papers. The diversity of the field is reflected in the range of topics represented by the papers submitted, selected by the authors.
