The English Connection, an integrated skills course, highlights the holistic approach to language teaching and learning. The underlying principles of language learning advocated by the CBSE, i.e., learner autonomy, reflective thinking, creativity, and interactive learning, have been incorporated in the pedagogy that is embedded in the course content of the series.

The purpose of this work is to further progress toward the solution of the question of English teaching in the Southwestern area of this country, comprising the Spanish-speaking population of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and southern California. The Spanish-speaking of these areas, and their need for a command of English makes an urgent demand on American education. This report includes an examination of efforts made, investigates state programs and other syllabi prepared, and surveys textbooks with a view to determining their adequacy to the task.
