El libro los Modelos de gestión de las organizaciones intensivas en conocimiento (OIC) (institutos de investigación, centros de productividad, centros de innovación y desarrollo tecnológico) está dirigido principalmente a aquellas personas e instituciones interesadas en la gestión de la ciencia, la tecnología e innovación; la evolución de los grupos de investigación y las ciencias de la administración, con énfasis especial en los temas de desarrollo organizacional, direccionamiento estratégico, calidad y productividad, y el análisis de las nuevas formas de organización. Presenta el diseño de un modelo integral de gestión de calidad que orientó la estrategia del Instituto de Prospectiva, Innovación y Gestión del Conocimiento de la Universidad del Valle, en el período 2008-2012. El texto refiere bases conceptuales, metodológicas y gerenciales que sirven para entender los ciclos de vida y la creación de oportunidades para la generación, crecimiento y desarrollo de las organizaciones intensivas en conocimiento, que son esenciales para aumentar la relevancia y el impacto de la investigación en Colombia.

El presente libro es fruto de una investigación de convocatoria interna 2010 de la Universidad del Valle, titulada "Determinación y puesta en marcha de un sistema de Gestión de Calidad identificando estructura, perfiles y capacidades diferenciales requeridas para Organizaciones Intensivas en Conocimiento" en esta se logró caracterizar las categorías de alta relevancia para la Gestión de Organizaciones Intensivas en Conocimiento, tomando como referentes de observación y aplicación el Instituto de Prospectiva e Innovación de la Universidad del Valle y el Parque Nacional de la Heliconias en el municipio de Caicedonia, Valle del Cauca, donde se propone la puesta en marcha del CIBA (Centro de Investigaciones Bioagrolndustrial y Ambiental). El texto se presenta en cinco capítulos, el (I) se denomina "Génesis, concepto y desarrollo de la Gestión del Conocimiento", el (II)"Perfiles, capacidades gerenciales y modelos estructurales para organizaciones intensivas en conocimiento", el (III) "Modelo de evaluación de la calidad en el servicio de las organizaciones intensivas en conocimiento (OIC), el (IV) "El caso del Centro de Investigación Bioagroindustrial y Ambiental para el Nororiente del Valle del Cauca" y finalmente el (V) "Referenciación estratégica nacional para el Centro de Investigación Bioagroindustrial y Ambiental del Norte del Valle del Cauca - CIBA".

Vacant lots on the urban fringe and in central and interstitial areas have affected growth patterns in Latin America. The understanding that some pesticides are more hazardous than others is well established. Recognition of this is reflected by the World Health Organization (WHO) Recommended Classification of Pesticides by Hazard, which was first published in 1975. The document classifies pesticides in one of five hazard classes according to their acute toxicity.
