Excerpt from Minutes of the Seventeenth Annual Session of the Neuse River Missionary Baptist Association: Held With First Baptist Church at Goldsboro, Wayne Co., North Carolina, September 28th, 29th, 30th and October 1st, 1886 President, Rev. W. R. Mason, sang hymn 835 and read 118 Psalm. Prayer was Offered by the vice-president, Rev. W. H. Shaw. The address of welcome was delivered by Elder A. B. Williams, which was 'responded to by the President. After which the, President announced that the Association was open for the transaction of business. On, motion, a committee was appointed to confei with the Supe1intendent oi the W. W. R. R. Co.
