La presente obra aborda la caracterización de los desplazamientos que se están produciendo en el contexto actual de capitalismo neoliberal y crisis ecológica. Se analizan las consecuencias de la violación de los derechos económicos, sociales y culturales en los movimientos de población, y las nuevas realidades vinculadas al despojo de los recursos y su traslación a nuevas categorías científicas; se examinan los conceptos presentes en los instrumentos de protección del Derecho Internacional de los Derechos Humanos. Finalmente se ofrecen conclusiones para la construcción de una categoría a medio camino entre la migración económica y el asilo: el desplazamiento forzado.

This book focuses on current frontier-related issues such as humanitarian crises, economic crises, discrimination of migrants in certain countries, different typologies of borders such as land, maritime, air, space, and even cyberspace borders, and environmental protection of water resources at borders. It addresses legal and theoretical considerations and presents empirical cases showing the manifestations of the concept in the real world and its dynamics. Millions of children are on the move, both within and between countries, with or without their parents. The conditions under which movement takes place are often treacherous, putting migrant children, especially unaccompanied and separated children, at an increased risk of economic or sexual exploitation, abuse, neglect and violence. Policy responses to protect and support these migrant children are often fragmented and inconsistent and while children on the move have become a recognised part of today's global and mixed migration flows they are still largely invisible in debates on both child protection and migration.
