Weiterhin soll geklärt werden, welche ökonomischen Gegebenheiten vorliegen müssen, damit gewisse Menschenbilder geschaffen werden. Die Frage nach der Freiheit soll hierbei allgegenwärtig sein. Die mögliche Freiheit des Denkens, des Handelns, der Autonomie etc. spielen in diesen Menschenbildern eine große Rolle. Heutzutage fällt in Bezug auf Mitarbeiter oftmals der Begriff der Humanressourcen oder des Humanpotentials, was darauf zurückzuführen ist, dass die Abhängigkeitsverhältnisse sich im Laufe der Zeit gewandelt haben. Die sprachliche Wandlung zeigt eine erhöhte Wertschätzung des Personals und die Anerkennung zu einem strategischen Erfolgsfaktor des Unternehmens. Das Denken über den Menschen ist eine essentielle Voraussetzung für unser soziales Leben. Damit in Verbindung steht die Frage der menschlichen Freiheit und worin diese besteht. Die Ökonomie stellt sich als Reich der Notwendigkeit dar. Es stellt sich also die Frage, wie viel Freiheit zu gestatten bzw. zu verbieten ist, um diese Notwendigkeit zu erfüllen und ob diese absolut zu klären ist oder an gewissen Umständen festgemacht werden muss.

This book provides both students and scholars with a critical and historical introduction to the graphic novel. Jan Baetens and Hugo Frey explore this exciting form of visual and literary communication, showing readers how to situate and analyse graphic novels since their rise to prominence half a century ago. Several key questions are addressed: what is the graphic novel? How do we read graphic novels as narrative forms? Why is page design and publishing format so significant? What theories are developing to explain the genre? How is this form blurring the categories of high and popular literature? Why are graphic novelists nostalgic for the old comics? The authors address these and many other questions raised by the genre. Through their analysis of the works of many well-known graphic novelists - including Bechdel, Clowes, Spiegelman and Ware - Baetens and Frey offer significant insights for future teaching and research on the graphic novel.

The history of the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering is as old as that of the TU Wien. On the 17 of July 2020, the High-Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence (AI HLEG) presented their final Assessment List for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence. Following a piloting process where over 350 stakeholders participated, an earlier prototype of the list was revised and translated into a tool to support AI developers and deployers in developing Trustworthy AI. The tool supports the actionability the key requirements outlined by the Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI), presented by the High-Level Expert Group on AI (AI HLEG) presented to the European Commission, in April 2019. The Ethics Guidelines introduced the concept of Trustworthy AI, based on seven key requirements: human agency and oversight technical robustness and safety privacy and data governance transparency diversity, non-discrimination and fairness environmental and societal well-being and accountability Through the Assessment List for Trustworthy AI (ALTAI), AI principles are translated into an accessible and dynamic checklist that guides developers and deployers of AI in implementing such principles in practice. ALTAI will help to ensure that users benefit from AI without being exposed to unnecessary risks by indicating a set of concrete steps for self-assessment.
