I have aimed at nothing more than an innocently entertain ing book for children. Will it be objected that there are many such already? I know there are, - hundreds, perhaps thousands - but mine is a new one. It occurred to me some time since, to have the care of a dear little girl, during a tedious illness; and a new book was a great prize to us. There were times too, when none of our many books would do, and then I leaned over her, and in a low voice told her many of the simple events recorded here. Should my book prove entertain taining to any dear sick child, its end will be answered.
