This book provides a critical analysis of mainstreaming as one of the major contemporary trends in immigrant integration governance in Europe. Bringing together unique empirical material and theoretical insights on mainstreaming, it examines how, why and to what effect immigrant integration is mainstreamed. In the context of the rise and fall of multiculturalism across various European countries, this book explores how these countries are rethinking the governance of their increasingly diverse societies. It highlights the trends of a broad approach to immigrant integration priorities, ‘mainstreamed’ into generic policy domains which are now visible throughout Europe. With contributions not only on migration studies, but also policy studies and gender mainstreaming, this edited volume will appeal to scholars across these fields, as well as policymakers and practitioners.

This collection of papers presents ideas and research that helps to find a link between the retarded child's educational setting and the onset of delinquency. The first section presents the impacts of the judicial system on the mentally retarded offender, and researcher attempts to find a relationship between intelligence and delinquency. The second section deals with the legal mandates, such as P.L. 94-142, and the parameters that schools much comply with the ensure that every student, regardless of his/her handicap, receives a free and appropriate education. Finally, the last section focuses upon some of the methods currently being used by school districts to comply with P.L. 94-142 and presents a case study that amplifies the need for schools to identify and nurture exceptional children.

This guidance document is designed to assist Pacific Island countries and territories in finding synergies between two important realms of policies and international commitments: sustainable management of chemicals and biodiversity conservation and use. It details the linkages between ecosystem services and biodiversity in agriculture, specifically in relation to soil health, ecological management of pests, weeds and invasive alien species, agroforestry, organic farming systems and ecotourism. It analyses current policies and best practices across the subregion and highlights key policy entry points for mainstreaming approaches to agriculture that reduce the use of agrochemicals. Produced under the EU-funded project “Capacity Building Related to Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) in Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries – Phase 2”, the document will guide countries in revising their strategies or policies related to chemical and biodiversity management. In particular, it will assist countries in revising or implementing their National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) to help them meet a number of Aichi Biodiversity Targets relevant to the agriculture sector.

This book addresses why, whether and how the existing legal framework on water management in China could make climate change adaptation a mainstream issue. The book uses a table to illustrate the distinctions and similarities between IWRM and water-centered adaptation to analyze the possibilities of mainstreaming adaptation. The new water-planning processes and EIA are also illustrated in the form of figures showing the differences after factoring in adaptation considerations. Interviews with water managers to obtain their perception and attitudes towards climate change adaptation offer new perspectives for readers. The adaptation- mainstreaming approach, which finds a way to balance various interests and tasks, will arouse the interests of those readers who argue that climate change is only one of the issues challenging water management, and that poverty reduction, environmental protection and living standard improvement are even more important.
