My name is Frank Gauthier and I'm a full time mail carrier with over two decade's experience. Over those years, I've asked a countless amount of carriers if they had any tips, techniques or strategies that made their job easier and be able to do their job faster than other carriers in their office. I gained a lot of knowledge from these carriers in all areas from sorting, pulling down the mail and delivering mail on their route. The carriers with the best tips andtechniques told me that even years after they first started they were alwayslooking for ways to make their job easier. Also, when you do the same thing everyday you get caught in a continuous pattern of doing the same thing every single day and you never think about trying something new to make your job better and easier. I tried everything that I learned and was amazed at how much faster I could get out of the office and onto my route. Also being able to deliver the mail more efficiently left me with so much extra free time each day. Even the little things that seem to benot much of a time saver, but it all adds up. As we all know being outside in the fresh air delivering the mail is the fun part of our job. I want you to have this same success! Here are just a few of the areas you will learn and drastically cut youroffice and route time down. You will learn all of this knowledge in great detail: Casing lettersPulling down the mailParcel arrangementPutting new labels inFilling out accountablesLoading vehicleCasing flatsBox holdersTelephone booksThick catalogsParcel sortingAnd much much more!!

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The true story of an ordinary mail carrier whose approach to work and life has the power to transform the everyday into the extraordinary—now in an updated twentieth-anniversary edition “This beloved business classic has inspired millions of people over the years, and today Mark Sanborn’s transformative insights are more timely and necessary than ever.”—Jon Gordon, author of The Energy Bus and co-author of The Coffee Bean Meet Fred. In this timeless and powerful book, Mark Sanborn, member of the Speaker Hall of Fame, recounts the true story of Fred, an ordinary USPS carrier who introduced himself one day shortly after Sanborn had moved to a new home in Denver. Fred, however, was no average mailman. As Sanborn came to discover, Fred was the kind of worker who exemplifies everything “right” with customer service. Did people want packages left on the porch or prefer a notice to pick them up at the post office? Fred made sure he knew the answer. When another delivery service left a package at the wrong house, Fred shepherded it safely to the intended recipient. Others might have seen delivering mail as routine work, but Fred seized the chance to find meaning in the mundane, competing with himself every day to find opportunities to make his customers smile. We’ve all encountered people like Fred. In this deeply inspiring book, Sanborn illuminates the four basic principles anyone can use to bring fresh energy and creativity to our work and life: how to make a tangible difference every day, build stronger relationships, create real value for others without spending a penny, and constantly reinvent yourself. In this updated edition, Sanborn speaks to the seismic changes that have transformed the world of work in recent years—with employees increasingly hungry for purpose in their jobs—and outlines the book’s fresh applications. By following his principles, you, too, can find more excitement, fulfillment, and success in your career—and in your life.

Have you ever thought about being a mail carrier for the USPS? If so, now's the time because the United States Postal Service is hiring like never before. After a job freeze for far too long, full-time employees now retiring, and a growth in packages, the post office needs help delivering the mail like never before. A new position called City Carrier Assistant (CCA) is now open for prospective employees. But before you go to the trouble of jumping through hoops to get the position, only to find it's simply not what you expected, read this book to get more of an idea what you're getting yourself into. The author tried the job, and within these pages is what this one particular person experienced. The conflict of what happens in reality and the proposed practices was so unbelievable to the author, that this book had to be written. This is a first-hand account of what an average person might experience as they go through the process of applications, orientations, training, and finally on the street delivering the mail. We guarantee what you imagined will be nothing like the reality. So don't go in blind to a job you're not familiar with, and quickly become overwhelmed with propaganda and infinite forms to learn. Read this book and at least have a general idea of what to expect by seeing through the eyes of someone who has already done it. Whether you're looking to apply for the position, or just a postal customer who's curious about how their mail gets around from point A to point B, once finished with this book, you'll never look at the mail system the same way again.
