The first anthology of writings by the brilliant avant-gardist: “A valuable book that makes accessible an artist too long considered a cult-eccentric.” —Publishers Weekly Born in 1916, Brion Gysin was a visual artist, historian, novelist, and experimental poet credited with the discovery of the “cut-up” technique—a collage of texts, not pictures—which his longtime collaborator William S. Burroughs put to more extensive use. He is also considered one of the early innovators of sound poetry, which he defined as “getting poetry back off the page and into performance.” Back in No Time gathers materials from the entire Gysin oeuvre: scholarly historical study, baroque fiction, permutated and cut-up poetry, unsettling memoir, selections from The Process and The Last Museum, and his unproduced screenplay of Burroughs’ novel Naked Lunch. In addition, this reader contains complete texts of several Gysin pieces that are difficult to find, including “Poem of Poems,” “The Pipes of Pan,” and “A Quick Trip to Alamut.”

Coded Lyrics is the first comprehensive academic work dedicated to unraveling the lyrical intricacies of Argentine rock in the English language. This book redefines the narrative of rock history, shedding light on the distinctive journey undertaken by South American rock music amidst a unique set of contextual challenges, far removed from its English-speaking counterparts. Within this vibrant musical landscape, Argentine rock emerges as a shining example of cultural resistance in the region. Focusing intently on Argentina's tumultuous authoritarian decades and the post-dictatorship era, this book delves deep into the heart of the Argentine rock genre's lyrical content. It vividly portrays the ongoing struggle between the state and the public, where identity, language, and perception converge around the powerful medium of rock music. Coded Lyrics is not a conventional musicological study; instead, it serves as a meticulous exploration of language and culture. With captivating prose, the book unravels the genesis of Argentine rock, placing language at its epicentre. Through a thorough examination of rock lyrics, this work unveils the artful manipulation of language as a vehicle for resistance. It illuminates the unexpected consequences of censorship in Argentina, with Argentine rock lyrics standing as a compelling testament to the transformative power of art in the face of totalitarianism.

A simple book of my own poetry. Initially inspired by the hurt and pain inside after contracting Multiple Sclerosis at the tender age of 18 and then later by events; music and paintings which stired my re-activated emotion that had been buried somewhere within for so very long.I found the writing of the poetry acted as a type of self therapy and helped me emerge from a long period of depression without the need to take any form of prescription or other drug. As a consequence a lot of the poetry/lyrics are quite morose

Meet Nigel: digger of latrines, shoveler of poop, and the single greatest threat to all the humans, elves, dwarves, and halflings of Esteria. Desperate to escape from military school and return to his carefree life as the village no-goodnik, Nigel sees the king's declaration of war on the gorks as the perfect opportunity to flee, since he's pretty sure his latrine-digging skills aren't going to do much good on the front line. But his escape efforts have a habit of backfiring, and by the time he and his arch-frenemy are banished from the kingdom and sent on an impossible quest for a (probably bogus) magical artifact, the humans of Amerigorn find themselves longing for the good old days when they were merely being annihilated by Lord Smoron. The Dragon Squisher is a fantasy novel for teens that spoofs the tropes of the genre and will appeal to teens, young adults, and adults who love the humor of Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams. If this is the kind of book you've been searching for--and who hasn't?--look no further than Book One of the Nigel Chronicles: The Dragon Squisher. Funnier than Lord of the Rings! Shorter than Harry Potter! This coming of age fantasy novel is an epic fantasy treat for all fans of humorous fantasy.
