A través de ejemplos prácticos, se describen las distintas opciones que ofrece la práctica de la restauración, en sus vertientes tradicional y moderna, para conservar correctamente el arte actual y sus nuevas tendencias.

La conservación-restauración del arte contemporáneo constituye un gran reto para el profesional dedicado a estas actividades debido a que, en la actualidad, cualquier material o mezcla de sustancias pueden haberse utilizado para configurar la obra. Se emplean desde materiales más tradicionales hasta los desarrollados más recientemente, como los polímeros sintéticos o algunas aleaciones metálicas, etcétera, e incluso ciertas obras han sido configuradas por organismos vivos.
