Based on the literature review, electrochemical precipitation and activated alumina adsorption were judged to be the most promising technologies for interim treatment of wastewater in Sump 1727. This interim response action will consist of the treatment and disposal of wastewater from bld1727 sum to mitigate 1) Any future release of contaminated water and 2) The potential adverse affects associated with a release of contaminated water. In addition, this IRA will reduce the mobility, toxicity, and volume of contaminate water in the sump. This final decision document provides summaries of: 1. Alternatives considered 2. Significant events leading to the initiation of the IRA 3. The IRA project 4. The applicable or relevant and appropriate requirements, standards, criteria, or limitations (ARAR's) associated with the program. The preferred action is to pump and treat with existing activated alumina/granular activated carbon treatment system.
