Based on the literature review, electrochemical precipitation and activated alumina adsorption were judged to be the most promising technologies for interim treatment of wastewater in Sump 1727. Sections of the report discuss the following: (1) Raw water characteristics; (2) proposed treatment levels for discharge to the RMA sanitary sewer; (3) treatability test methods that were used to evaluate the two technologies; (4) results of the tests; (5) selection of alumina as the preferred treatment; (6) conceptual design; and (7) costs. jg.

The purpose of the biota remedial investigation report is to present the current nature and extent of contamination in biota on RMA. The report integrate known historical information, the results of previous investigations, and results of current programs. The report is divided into the following sections: General background information on RMA contamination and past investigations; Description of the physical environment, regional biota, and biota within the arsenal; identification of important biological components as a basis for evaluating contamination; Summary of the methods used in this assessment; Data on the types and concentrations of contaminants in RMA biota; and Assessment of the distribution and concentration of contaminants in biota and associated environment to evaluate pathways for contaminant movement.

The objective of this task is to conduct a remedial investigation and feasibility study off-post of RMA. This RI/FS will: (1) evaluate the extent of contamination to the north and northwest of the arsenal, (2) estimate the risk to the environment and public health, (3) identify appropriate remedial responses. Sections of the report discuss the following: (1) geotechnical and chemical analysis, (2) ground water sampling, (3) safety plan for field activities, (4) data management and evaluation of data, (5) ea methodology which will be required in order to determine the magnitude and probability of actual or potential harm to the public or the environment.
